Honestly, Ross was a character that was doomed to fail because of how obnoxious, insecure, and petty he can be but Schwimmer injected something in the character to make him insanely hilarious even in his "toxic" moments. Can't imagine anyone who can play Ross any better.

If Elizabeth was like a teenager he was pursuing and it wasn't mutual, then it would be WAY worse, she was the one that came on to him and Ross wasn't really pursuing a serious relationship after his failed marriages with Emily and Rachel.

Ross didnt change in 10 years. He was still insecure and selfish at the end of the show. He couldnt compromise and give up his job for Rachel but she gave up her major opportunity and even said she had gotten all she could have at her current position. But she gave up doing something for herself and her career for him. Also he can be immature as well. I think David was incredibly talented and played him well. But as for the character, i prefer Chandler.
