Updated list of German words in Frieren. I added a few German words from previous episodes I overlooked: *Aura* = aura *Auserlese* = selection, to carefully select something of the highest quality (in this case the largest amount of mana) *Äußerst* = most likely referring to the town's remote position (außen = at the outside) but "äußerst" is the wrong adjective to use if that's the case. "Äußerst" is generally used as a superlative as in "extremely, most, etc." *Bluterei* = may refer to the word "bluten" (bleeding). *Draht* = wire *Eisen* = iron *Ende* = the end *Eng* Road = tight, narrow *Erfassen* = to capture, to gather, to register, to comprehend (it's the name of Linie's imitation spell) *Ewig* the sage = eternal, forever Holy City of *Strahl* = beam / ray (of light) *Fern* = far away, distant *Flamme* = flame *Frieren* = to freeze, to feel cold *Graf Granat* = Graf is the German word for Count Granat is the German word for the garnet-coloured gemstone displayed on the family crest *Heiter* = cheerful, merry *Himmel* = heaven (can refer to the sky and heaven in a religious sense) *Kraft* = strength, power *Linie* = line *Lügner* = liar *Schwer* Mountains = heavy *Sein* = to be, being *Stark* = strong *Stoltz* = pride, proud - correct spelling would be Stolz *Qual* = agony, torture

26:22 I suspected Himmel loved Frieren from episode 2 with the scene with the flowers. Himmel telling her that he wanted to show her these special flowers he liked from his hometown was one of those red flags that he was just super smooth with it and Frieren was just too emotionally immature to understand him.
@Syntex3662 ай бұрын
That’s definitely not the right use of the term red flag. That would mean Himmel’s feelings are toxic or concerning.
@CysaDaMerc2 ай бұрын
@Syntex366 red flag is a warning, I'm using it to designated that Himmel was too much of a smooth operator (meaning he was very subtle with how he expressed his love) and Frieren was too emotionally immature to understand. The red flag is on their combined interaction, meaning I was immediately suspicious that their relationship would prove to be a painful example of missed opportunity. Red flags don't always mean someone is being toxic, it can also mean that something is going to lead to an unwanted outcome. Someone spending time with another person might notice a habit they have that is not necessarily toxic, but might consider it a sign that there will be problems in the future.

@@CysaDaMerc it's just a flag, we use the term "flag" in anime for those kind of romantic hints lol
@CysaDaMercАй бұрын
@@frieren848 those flags are good things. When you get a flag indicating a bad ending, I will refer to that as a red flag. Frieren being too emotionally immature to understand Himmel's feelings for her, is an indicator that we weren't going to get a happy ending with the two of them.

Flamme lived about 1,000 years ago. Frieren says that she's over 1,000 years old, but she's probably not too much older than that because she seemed quite young when Flamme found her. In the scene where Frieren asks her to teach her the flower spell, she says that they've been together for 50 years. I don't think we know how long she lived after that, but it probably wasn't more than a couple of decades. So Frieren was on her own for a little over 900 years. Speaking of Flamme, I would very much like a scene of her teaching Fireren her seduction technique.
@falx19752 ай бұрын
There's a panel of that in the manga apparently. Its heavily implied Flamme was knowingly trolling Frieren.
@ThomasSMuhn2 ай бұрын
Addition: Apparently Frieren went on killing demons after Flamme's death, but stopped for some reason after 400-500 years. That's where the "I'm not brave enough to go try and kill the Demon King; I haven't killed a demon in 500 years" came from.

I could list a plethora of shows "centered around a brother and sisters bond" which they would HATE. Your reasoning is dreadful. Also, as others are pointing out, they would of course like it, but compared to other shows, there's not much to get out of it, character and plot-wise.
