The lesson I get from this chapter is: "If we talk about the things that bother us, the relationship improves." and "Not only children need emotional support."

I just love Frieren and Fern’s relationship … there is genuine love there. It’s funny that depending on the situation, Fern is Frieren’s daughter, older sister, mom, and apprentice. I think both love each other unconditionally. That smile on Fern’s face when Frieren said, “I know” (that you’re not a child) said it all.

It really goes in line with Frieren's reasoning from ep. 2-4 in response to Fern's questioning. 3 times she said she was doing something for herself.

@@Credemis that's a theory that's been around in the community a lot, but I don't think that's the case, mostly because the story is never meant to advance past Fern's death so it doesn't make sense for the ED to express that. I think the director for that OP just took a little too much liberty in expression and confused all of us with it
@Credemis4 ай бұрын
@@javierflores09 I’m not saying it foreshadows Ferns death in the series or anything, I’m saying it shows Frieren outliving Fern, which is the obvious inevitability of their situation.
@herpderp71144 ай бұрын
@@grimmturd I mean that is actually an optimistic thought - Frieren is going to outlive Fern 100% unless something tragic happens to her. If she is on Ferns grave, then that just means she didn't get killed before her death. Obviously it doesn't rule out the possibility that something tragic happens to Fern, but it doesn't mean that it will either. So in that regard it's neutral.

Speaking of parting phrases, in episode 1 Heiter used "sore de ha osaki ni" which the subs aptly translate as "if you'll excuse me". The "sore de ha" is just some "well then" type ish, but the "osaki ni" comes from the phrase "osaki ni shitsurei shimasu" which is a phrase you say to excuse yourself when leaving early. So when he says "I'll be going first" as he leaves in the carriage, that's after he's already informed us he doesn't think he'll meet his companions again before passing from old age. Oh, and there were some cool production tweets about the ED, showing how the stop-motion part had layers of panes of glass holding the different background and foreground elements as Frieren makes her way through the woods.

The Japanese title for this episode, "Take Care," is "Ja Genki de" (a line from Sein at 14:46). While "Genki de" means "Take Care," if I had to be precise, it translates more closely to "Stay Well." So, When someone is going out, if you want to say "take care" in Japanese, saying "Ki wo tsukete" would have almost the same meaning. "'Genki de" can also mean "take care," but it is a phrase used only when you won't be seeing someone for a while.
@wrexgrafix842 ай бұрын
@@asagi-16 From my understanding, “ki wo tsukete” is more like “be careful” rather than “take care.” If there is some danger, we would say “be careful,” as in “be careful of poisonous snakes.” “Take care” is short for “take care of yourself (as in health),” so it’s close in meaning to “stay well.” ^ - ^

The new ending begins at Flamme's grave and Frieren is now scared for the time when Fern dies and how she'll be alone again because she'd talked about Fern growing up this episode. Watching this again, it feels like Sein leaving is a completion of his arc of learning to go on the adventure he's always wanted to, but only now finally has the will to do. Also, the ß in Äußerst (and German in general) is read with a kind of "ss" sound rather than the "B" it looks like in English, so it sounds more like Ausserst than Auberst.

I love the little fight about Stark being too strong, cause it’s such a very human experience. A lot of men remember the moment when they realized how much stronger than women they are, and it usually happens during puberty while horsing around with a girl.

I kinda forgot that. Some of her behavior sometimes bugs me. But thats my fault its easy to forget that not only was she a war orphan and probably has seen it, She also grew up only with heiter in the woods as well as taking care of him, the house, the food and the cooking by herself. On top of that, trained her magic to the extreme. She's. Been a bit of a robot since she was a kid. Stark is going to have it rough lol

From a narrative standpoint it does make sense that Sein just had to go. Despite his "corrupt priest" schtick, my man is just way too mature and centered for this party of lovable dummies. Regarding "take care", I believe you're thinking of "itterasshai", which means, more or less, "go and come back safely". The counterpart is "ittekimasu", which means "I'm going but will come back". The equivalent in English in terms of commonality of usage would probably be "I'm heading out" plus "Take care", though there's a lot more variation in English for both phrases.
