The conversation Frieren has with Serie in Ep. 25 might be one of my favorite scenes in the entire season. Serie is such a tough nut to crack, she's a perfect living and breathing example of what Frieren could have become had she not taken the path she did, but even then I feel like so many people, especially other reactors, just pissed and moaned about how cold she is without realizing the nuance in that scene. Serie cared so deeply for Flamme, why else would she need to go on a moody walk through the forest and reminisce about her time spent with her? Her remembering Flamme as a hopeful young girl was her weird and backhanded way of mourning her death, while using it as a way to teach Frieren a lesson as well. I love that entire scene so much and I feel like so many people completely missed the real point.

Frieren is just the PERFECT anime. I'm sorry to say there is absolutely NOTHING I would change or remove to this. In terms of animation they went hard also thanks to JJK animators but not only. No wonder why Frieren is the best rated anime of all time so far. I hope the season 2 will be as perfect

7:00 she does know it can use sorganeil, that's why she said at 7:05 whoever miscalculates the distance first loses. Since they need to be far enough apart to see the full body to use the spell. I also like at 23:10 you can see frieren and her clone moving their defensive spells to wherever the other's staff is pointed, cool detail. 25:45 even though serie said she didn't want to take over for Flamme teaching mages, here she is now running the magic association and running exams to make new mage. 33:35 I also believe that even though she's seriously hurting them, the Sense replica isn't hitting them in fatal spots, though it should have the ability to do so. It's following the Spiegel's order to defend the dungeon while also still somewhat sticking to Sense's own mindset. Frieren using that magic 80 years ago means she used it against the demon king, though I'm sure you already know that.

​@@jiansu Nah, this is different this time. Madhouse and its parent company, NTV (also the TV channel that airs Frieren every week) are part of the production committee. Since they already invested enough money in Frieren, it would be dumb for them to abandon Frieren. Unlike OPM, Madhouse is not part of the production committee.

After watching episode 25 I was initially a little disappointed that the fight was finished so easily, and thought that would be the end of the second test. It felt a little anticlimactic. Thinking about it after I realized that the flashbacks, lore, things we learned about Frieren and Serie, seeing Fern's growth as a mage, those are the things this show really excels at. It's not a shounen battle anime, it's Frieren, that's part of why I love it so much. I enjoyed everything we got in that episode more than I would have if it was just a crazy fight. Then a week later episode 26 opens with Frieren't summoning a black hole and I had the biggest stupid grin on my face for the whole episode. This anime is incredible.

That's one of the things a lot more people need to realize: Frieren is NOT a battle shounen. It's more evident in the manga. This is coming from a huge Frieren fan: The art in the manga is good, but the fight scenes SUCK. The choreography is nonexistent, the angles are so bad that most of the time, it looks like the characters aren't even aiming at each other, and unless it's a major fight that takes multiple chapters, it's gonna happen offscreen. The action is literally the last thing that the story itself focuses on, and MADHOUSE took care of that.

Frieren hasn't had to use that technique since 80 years ago which means the last time she used it was against the Demon King. Makes you wonder what kind of monster he really was. And the fact that Fern could corner her clone into using it. Fern truly has the potential to be the next great mage.

I mean, let's be fair - without Frieren herself doing 99% of the heavy lifting, Fern wouldn't be able to corner anything. Fern certainly has amazing potential, but as it stands currently, Fern is no more of a fight to Frieren than Denken is (which is to say, it can hardly be called a fight)

Serie has embraced the change and formed the Continental Magic Association im hopes to bring back mages of a greater time. What im trying to say is, Frieren is gonna do that with Fern. Turn her into someone worthy of being a great mage. And with their relationship, it'll be like Frieren putting more salt in Serie's wounds. We already saw a glimpse of this in later episodes as........ **** SPOILER ALERT MOVE AWAYYY!!! **** ⚠️ .....Serie failed Frieren, but was unable to fail Fern due to how well Frieren has taught her.

Ubel's ability to cut anything she deems "cuttable" honestly reminds me of Victhor from Undead Unluck. Like how he could put all his strength into an attack despite it breaking his own limbs. He overcame his human instinct of preservation because he realized that he'll just heal anyway. Same way Ubel doesn't pay mind to the layers of protection on cloth or hair. They are things meant to be cut, no need to think about it so hard. Magic is a world of imagination in this show. Anything you believe your magic can do, it can.

Frieren's Shinra Tensei will always be my favorite. It's crazy that Fern couldn't detect any mana in that attack, which means clone Frieren didn't cast it the way any other mages do. Mages usually cast a spell using mana through visualization, it's like mana is the raw source, and visualization is like the way you cook your food. But it turns out that Frieren can cast a 'spell' with just pure visualization, without using her mana at all, and that's insane. They said Sense's level of visualization is crazy for beling able to manipulate countless threads of her hair, but they don't know how Frieren is truly capable of for reaching such height of magic.

7:49 she already confirmed that she could use it when she said that "whoever miscalculates the distance first will lose this battle". Meaning that either one of them can use it. I love the magic in this show and how it's explained. They aren't just spells that are cast (except for Ubel). They're magic done through your imagination. If you can imagine how to do something, you can possibly use magic to do it (given time and effort). Ubel is special in that she can cast another person's spell without understanding how the spell itself works in her mind. She instead tries to understand the person casting the spell. She's basically breaking the magic system in the show like it's a videogame by finding as many loopholes as possible. Like how her cutting spell can cut through anything she thinks it can cut through, regardless of how many defensive spells are on it. She's not thinking about the spells. She expects in her mind to be able to cut something like hair or clothes. So her spell can cut through hair and clothes. Doesn't matter how much defense you have.

One cool detail about that final fight Frieren had with her clone & Fern was she mentioned the last time she used that spell that slammed Fern into the wall was around 80 years ago which would mean the last time she used that spell was on the Demon King fight when she was with Himmel's party.

They only cant be detected as a spell because of the lack of understanding. Once you know how the 'curse' works, its just a spell. Its not a different type of magic its just magic thats not yet understood.

Fern couldn't detect any mana from the clone's attack, that's why she said she didn't recognize it as a spell. Normally mages cast a spell using mana through visualization, but clone Frieren didn't use any mana and only used pure visualization while attacking Fern with that almighty push. Frieren's visualization is really on another level.

Thing is the last attack the frieren clone uses on fern is his own special magic, just like übel developed his magic to be able to cut everything because she like cut stuff, frierens height of magic is based on a powerful undetectable spell, perfect to kill demons

Without spoilers,the peak of magic bends reality to your own will until it becomes a natural phenomenon. Thats why you cant recognize is as magic or counter it under normal circumstances. You have to analyze and understand it, to be able to do something against it. So in a normal fight, it would be impossible to fight against it because you will definetly die before you can understand it. There is another counter, but that isnt something a normal mage can pull off. Alsothe other spells frieren uses are Hellfire summoning and destructive Lightning, the names are just written in the manga and not in the anime, so its not spoiler just skipped content. She also used the original zooltrack that was invented to destroy humans. The other spells are anime og and mostly variations of her mastery over gravity magic.

aside the awesomeness of Frieren v Frieren , Serie's flashback is so good for multiple reasons. Hearing her talking about the dawn of human civilization as something she witness firsthand is already crazy, probably means she is over ten thousand years old, and also about how elves can delay their decisions even for a millennium if they feel like. And guess what happened after a millennium? She became the head of the continental magic association, thus granting Flamme's wish of supervising humanity's magical growth, even tho she introduced multiple exams, so she can still be true to her own value of only teaching people with talent (at least if we're talking about direct teaching). Also Fern can't kill Frieren whatsoever, she only could deal severe damage cause Frieren was already fighting herself, if Fern fights 1v1 she dies in .1 second :D

Note: It isn't the idea that Frieren might 'turn bad', but the idea that Humanity might 'turn bad'. Or rather, turn *against* Frieren at some point, in which case we might see plenty of human mages capable of taking Frieren down in another 20-50 years. That's fear Serie has, that Humanity it too unpredictable and immature to wield something as world changing as Magic. Of course, in this time period she's all but accepted the changing times and retroactively agreed to her beloved pupil's last wishes by overseeing the Magic Organization
