My most favorite part is when Uniek starts to tickle her son and gives him little scratches while she gets her massage. I can tell this is a very loving. A kind of way that Uniek tells her baby that she loves him and she thinks he is cute. I haven’t seen the other mares do this with their foals or maybe I just haven’t noticed it but I think it’s the best!

I learned from watching these videos that when two horses groom each other, it's in the same location on the other horse. So the therapist massages Uniek on her rump, Uniek grooms RS on his rump! Pretty cool.

You can tell how much she enjoyed it by how inwardly focused she was. Uneik is know for being watchful of her surroundings with ears traveling around listening for clues. During the massage her ears are often forward and eyes in thought instead of in search. It's lovely that she was able to relax physically and mentally.

I have heard of horse massage but have never seen how it is done. It is very similar to when I get a massage but on a horse the muscles are bigger. Interesting so see how a trigger point is done -- just like a human trigger point. Queen Uniek is giving Rising Star his own massage -- so cute. This video was very interesting. Thanks for that.

Wonderful rub-down for Uniek - all that, and pellets too! Good to hear that 'Rising Star' is feeling better. We often forget how fiercely colts 'play-fight' - it was their way of practising to be 'herd stallions' one day. Luckily none of these horses will face that experience when they are older, even the ones that get to become breeding stallions. It is good to have a reminder on the intenet to keep a close eye on your 'young stock' and to keep a thermometer handy just in case a nip turns into an infection that needs treating. So many of our 'domestic' animals will try to cover up an ailment or injury because if they were wild animals, looking ill would be a sign that predators would identify.
