Talk about an awkward teenage phase... Yfke is lifting her tail for Risey and clacking at the same time! 😂 I think they are absolutely adorable together and a good fit! Risey hates being alone, but she doesn't inspire him to be crazy playfull, and he doesn't bully her! Perfect! ❤

He technically is bullying her with the obvious biting because horses need to estalish dominance when they first meet or are reintroduced but he does not bully her in the same way a mare would or in the same way Risey would another male horse, the dynamic shifts when it's a male with a female. A female's role is mainly to protect her foal and herself while a male horse's role is to protect the herd from danger whether in the form of intruders or challengers. So he might snake her around but won't be territorial over his food because a male horse realises that their mares need to be healthy in order to reproduce for them, that's why no matter how frustrating a mare can be when they are protecting their foals or when they are in heat, the male will try their hardest not to hurt the mare unless the mare is being too pushy when she's in heat.

Horses that are not 100% tend to spook more easily. They are very much aware that their injury or condition makes them more vulnerable & are sometimes hyper aware of their surroundings & see threats where none exist. For horses with wobblers spooking at unfamiliar noises or movement can cause them to fall or run into objects because they can’t fully control their body. Putting them with other horses can help them feel more secure & less likely to spook. If their herd mates aren’t frightened or running then they know there’s nothing to worry about. Unfortunately putting them out with other horses can lead to injuries if they run, buck & kick while playing with their friends. It’s difficult to manage a horse with Wobblers or Shivers or leg injuries. Reducing one risk often means introducing another.

@@Bearwithme560 He was always like that even without the wobbler if we are being honest, to remember how he pulled Yvonne when a car approached while he was being led to Stal G on a road and also reared inside his stall aftewards, he also confused his image in the glass panels as another horse and kept neighing, how he kicked at his own mem Uniek when he confused her for another horse after being weaned, how he does not like it when other horses walk/sneak close to his rear, his reactions to mostly everything new/unidentified is nervous snorts or backing up etc.

@@darn4285 Yes, l agree. I noticed that as well. You know, a lot of later illness in humans, like ME/CFS, or fibromyalgia (which l have), are related to early childhood trauma or PTSD, which rewires the growing brain. Could Risey be suffering an equine version, considering his rough start in life with the loss of his mother? There's so much about the brain that remains a mystery.

You have been careful with Risey because you knew he could fall over and hurt himself or someone else. It is a fine line to walk. So sad for him that he fell but I am relieved he was not hurt. I think if he was in pain or very unhappy, he would let you know. For now, he is a very happy and sweet boy. Please don't doubt your decision to wait and see how he does. We are all still praying for him as he learns to live with his disease. I am happy to see he and Yfke are friends. Thank you for sharing this with us. ♥🐎

I do believe Risey was hyper by himself because he was frustrated from not having another horse with him for far too long, I do think he likes ponies but does not socialise with them as much as big horses (like when Coralle and Saly would pin their ears, he'd give them a wide berth but he would not really care how ponies would react to him). So fingers crossed, Yfke will fill that gap for him and make him calmer.

Oh Yvonne you are one of the most wonderful horse whisperer that I’ve ever observed and I know there’s nothing more stressful than having a horse that you have to make decisions for, but I will share with my vet told me is the time is right for that when you are too stressed to go on and Risey is too stressed and I don’t think we’re there yet and how wonderful for him to have if Ifka is a companion love your love be spending my morning at your farm. Risey is healthy and happy and if he falls from being scared ok because I am 70yrs old and so far I have fallen 7 times in the past 2 yrs..So give us both a thumbs up :) Its been two months since this video, how is our young Prince? I’m 69 and going through the same thing. I’ve followed Yvonne and the herd since that early morning that Uniek lost Star. I believe that God, in His providence, brought that beautiful orphan colt to Uniek and Yvonne to fill that void. Like others have posted, I trust Yvonne and Risey’s veterinarian to make the right choices. It would be a huge blow to their fans globally, but…..😢.

@@mrs.brunke443 I had to buy a watch with fall detection..it calls the police and then my husband..my last fall was just a few months ago, alone in my kitchen..could see me passed out or dead hitting my head on the floor. My very 1st fall I broke my right shoulder and arm..at that time I really wished I was dead lol..the body is getting old but God has blessed me with a young soul. 😊😇

Yvonne, I believe your MAIN worry is that Risey will take a fall and REALLY painfully injure himself, which would be a terrible thing! If you get to the point where you believe that will happen, then just know that we will understand if the decision you make is painful for all of us! We really do trust your judgement, since you're the one that's with him 24/7.

It is very sad that Risey will not be ridden or have the life that a horse of his pedigree usually has. But I can;t help but feel that he is right where he is now supposed to be. With Yvonne If he had come down with this affliction with a different owner, he most likely would have been put down by now. Risey brings so much joy and is well loved by so many all over the world. Because of Yvonne and her channel, Risey does have purpose. Risey is valued so highly and helps bring peace and serenity to many, including me. He is also very good with the other Stal H ponies and horses. We never know how long we will have any pet or animal that comes into our life. All we can do is give them the best life that we possibly can and love them and make the best decisions for their care and quality of life. Yvonne is doing just that. I trust Yvonne to know what is best for Risey and always be his advocate. Thank you for sharing him with us Yvonne, It means a lot.

Exactly, what I was thinking....poor Rising Star, startled by seeing Yvonne " appear" through the glass door! Have often wondered how horses must act towards reflections, etc....of course they see themselves in water....but glass windows are different...mirrors must be really scarey at times....

I think you are doing the right thing to let him live because he is not in pain and he is very happy. He will fall occasionally when he is caught off guard, but I still think he is a happy boy and should be allowed to live until he is in pain.

Yes, he fell - but he also got back up again! If he couldn’t get up on his own, then there would be cause for concern, I think. But he can stand up and walk/trot on his own, he looks healthy otherwise, and seems to be enjoying life with his family. I think you are making the right decision keeping him alive. 😊

Risey looks a little confused by the odd new friend. Risey is a magnificent boy, and Risey will tell you when it’s time. Maybe you should wear a big cow bell so Risey knows where you are all the time. Love them while you have them. My son’s service dog is getting up in age, they leave a hole in our hearts, but just enough for another to come and fill our heart again…right next to our memories. So we end up with many memories and HUGE COMPASSIONATE HEARTS….and I think yours is gigantic. Bee well……..

When you ask yourself if you're doing it right to let him live, than think about this, does he want to live, because he looks happy, and I know that being dead isn't something he's thinking about, he's thinking about life, and you can tell he loves it, he doesn't care about his problem, horses don't overthink things the way that us humans do. I know in the old days they would have put any horse down that is useless to them, if a horse wasn't a working horse, it was no good to them, they did not accept horses as pets, just as a working horse only, but I believe a horse can be a friend, and a pet.

this! an animal knows when its time to go over the rainbow bridge, Risey seems to be a fighter and yes there are risks to count in, but life is full of risks and decision, an animal is not overthinking, they will know when they have to go

I understand your fear of someone or himself getting hurt. But remember, all in all he has a pretty good life, yes, he is wobbly, so he will probably fall easier than healthy horses. I still stand behind your decision to give him time, its the best thing you could do for him. Risey is an exceptional boy, thankfully he fell on soft ground, so he hopefully didn't hurt himself too much? Would physio help him, I know equine physio's do exist. I wonder if there are certain exercises he could do in the arena to counter-act the effect of the wobbler? Yvonne it is an absolute pleasure to watch everyone working with the horses, you always really cheer me up! Keeping fingers crossed for Risey.👍🏻😁

Not a horse owner, but have had animals. Most of them will not let you know if they are hurting. You have to see it. I think if Risey was hurt in the fall, he would limp, or not be able to get up. Don't second guess yourself every time something happens. It will drive you nuts. I could tell Risey and Yfke would be friends, can't remember the clue. They are cute together. When you decide to breed her, Risey can be the step father. Love and prayers from NC, USA

I can see how having Risey with this condition pulls on your heart strings Yvonne. It is always in the back of your mind with all the responsibilities you have with your family and Stall H. Since your accident everything is probably more stressful for you. I almost lost my life in a surgery when my 2 boys were young. It's about how much you can handle too. You will know what to do if that time should come. ❤

I'm not sure which episode was about Risey really objecting to worming medicine but thought this tip might help. On another channel, the owner said she give her reluctant horses a syringe full of apple sauce before the syringe full of medicine. LOL ... maybe that would soften him up a bit.
