Thank you Mr Chris. Happy Father’s Day to all viewers that have been a father in any form. Chris, as a recovering alcoholic, you help me grow in my recovery. @@janeg7475 hello Jane, Divine Intervention was the case for me. However, it came w a large $$ attached. Third DUI. Was released from jail, went home and drank half a pint of Vodka. I perfectly remember how disgusting it tasted, and the last sip I took I told myself that was the last one ever. It was very disgusting. So I don’t want to drink and I am repulsed at the site of alcohol in general thanks be to God. Attending quite a few AA meetings every week helps. Also I get to see some of the other members slowly returning back to being healthy with a brain that is not waited down by excessive drinking.

Great stories, Chris! Through 60+ years of backpacking I have never experienced any Bigfoot, Yeti or other "monster-type" of creatures. I've camped around the world. The only stories I can relate are in England my tent nearly got trampled by a herd of elk; the other I awoke in my hammock in the highlands of Virginia to an awful smell and a curious wild pony staring at me. Most other trips were uneventful. Oh, on a van camping trip I asked one night to relieve myself, opened my sliding door only to find a 400+ pound bear sniffing my campfire. Another van camping trip I nearly stepped on a skunk as I was checking to see what triggered my solar lights mounted on my roof rack. These scary stories have me wanting to experience just once.
@patrickglaser1560 Жыл бұрын
Well you'll never experience it because they don't exist. Also I dislike the "forest goes silent" trope... ya the wind stops moving occasionally and forest animals don't make noise when the wind stops.

Congrats Chris on 100k! I've enjoyed your channel since coming across it. Hearing these stories I've had to come back and look at or reevaluate an event I experienced back in the late '70s. I had finished up a project in western Nevada and was driving home to northern Colorado. It was mid November, almost midnight, pretty cold out because there was no cloud cover. I was driving on US 40, having just passed through Steamboat Springs and heading up to Rabbit Ears Pass. I had just filled up and got a big coke to keep me going for the final 3 hour push. There was no traffic to speak of and the road was dry, just snow on the shoulders, so I was clipping along at a good speed. Suddenly this mule deer shoots across the road in front of me maybe 25 - 30 or so yards ahead. I hit the brakes and dropped my speed quickly to more of a roll in case any other deer were following behind. I rolled down the window and yelled something stupid out into the night because I was mad she scared me. That tensed me up a bit as I started accelerating back up to speed while I scanned the road's edge looking for more deer to pop out. I started to relax some and grabbed the coke to take a big ole gulp and just then another deer comes shooting onto the road. This one was way closer and I had to jump on the brakes and came skidding to a stop. Ahhhhhgghhhgg! F... F... F... or something that intelligent came out of my mouth. I rolled the window down and repeated it to the trees and darkness. Now I was pissed off mad instead of scared mad and just got back up to speed, but doubly intent on keeping an eye on the shoulder/forest edge. It was only another tenth of a mile or so down the road when this third doe flies out right in front of me. I don't actually know how close she was, but I was in a full on skid turning to my left as I came to a dead stop sideways in the middle of the road. Once again, ahhhhhhgghhhgghhhgghhhgghhhgg! F... F... F... F... F...! I actually thought I might of smacked into her on her hind quarters, because I swear she went over the hood, but I couldn't say for sure. Still it was enough that I jumped out of the truck and ran around to see. There was no injured doe there and I crossed the road and found her tracks in the snow on the other side of the road. As I stood there listening for her I started to hear something back on my side of the road. Seemed like it could be another deer coming up the hill, then maybe several as it got much louder but was still a ways down the hill. Then it was more like crashing noises, not like a surefooted deer running. It actually sounded like a big rock/boulder was careening downhill smashing into trees and stuff. Yet it kind of just kept going as opposed to fading off. Still it was all I could rationalize from the sound. I was trying to think whether some deer had caused a small avalanche of sorts. It was definitely good sized pieces of wood being smashed by something or someone. It didn't even freak me out, just puzzled me and then all of a sudden it stopped. My adrenaline must have been pumping quite well as I finally turned to realize my truck and I were sitting in the middle of the road on a cold dark night. I turned and headed to the truck, but stopped and picked up this good sized rock on the road and chucked it into the forest. Heard it land and just then this weird noise came back at me. If you're familiar with the warning bellow scream/sound deer make, well that's what I thought it was. It really doesn't sound like it could come from them but it does and it's loud. Then I heard it again, and again, and then a second different one, and then maybe a third different one. That's when it struck me that it didn't sound like a deer, it was too guttural, not nasally. It wasn't a bear, wasn't a mountain lion, it could be like a moose maybe, but it wasn't like anything I heard before, so I had to go back to it being the deer again (besides I don't know if the moose were back in Colorado by that date). Afterall I'd just seen three mule deer crossing the road in the past mile. Being the smart twentysomething I was, I walked back to the side of the road and picked up two more rocks. I pitched the first one in about the same place as the original one, nothing. I pitched the second one at the area where the first sound came from and boom the sound came back at me easily twice as loud. God only knows why, but I picked up four more rocks and rapid fire flung them downhill in a spread pattern. Oh boy that did it! At least three slightly different warning screams came back at me, multiple times followed by a really loud crashing in the trees. Then finally a very very loud warning bellowing scream and what I can only describe as the sound of a large rock hitting a tree hard enough to crack it. At that point it was beyond my understanding, save a mule deer the size of a semi. I got back in the truck and drove for the next three hours and landed safely in my bed about 4 a.m. While I talked about the deer encounters I never added the rest of the story. It's really been more recently, say the past 5 years, that I try to relive and rethink that night. I just don't know. Back in the late '70s there was this thing called a bigfoot scarcely found in the Pacific northwest that had big ole flat feet that would make Shaq look small. I really didn't know what they were or if they existed. We know so much more now and I certainly doubt I would be chucking rocks at a family of them now if that was the case to start with. As I think about that encounter today, and I wonder if there were sasquatch there that night, I'm curious what they thought of my actions. Back then I stood 6'-8", had a full head of curly red hair down to my shoulders and that night was wearing a big winter coat. Could they have thought I was one of their dwarf relatives? I also feel like I'd want to meet one some day, but also realize I'd probably just soil myself.
