I don't comprehend how John Noble NEVER got an Emmy for his entire body of work on Fringe. He played one of the most multi-faceted characters I've ever seen in Walter Bishop, with an emotional depth and range that rivals the very best of Hollywood.

This one scene perfectly sums up the entire show. It is not just the best scene from season 5, I put forth the motion that it is one of the best scenes ever in the history of television. The emotion, story, feelings and background in those few minutes are amazingly rich and deep and you don't just hear Walter's words and see Peter's face you feel them. Very rare are the times a medium can have that impact.

A father's love for his son, his very favorite thing, for which he will sacrifice everything. Beautifully acted by John Noble and Joshua Jackson. A tearjerker. Did they have real tears, knowing that they would no longer be acting together in such a stellar tv series. I prefer to believe "yes". When you lose your father, as I have years ago, I think this scene is even more poignant. The bond that was forged is finally lost.

The series brilliantly blends classic Science Fiction themes (Time Travel, Parallel Universes...) with the personal dramas of the characters, scientific theories (Relativity, Quantum Physics), Greek Mythology. Unmissable and Unforgettable.

Most emotional and very beautiful. But I submit to you that the best scene between Walter and Peter in season five, is when Michael unlocks the original timeline inside Walter’s mind. You see Walter let go of all emotional inhibitions towards Peter. And you see Peter’s yearning for “his Walter” finally satiated since season four. This scene is predictable. But Michael restoring the relationship between these two prior to this scene is not predictable, yet adds more power to this scene. And much more history towards the difficult challenge of letting each other go. Perhaps they go best together and should be considered as a tie. But I like the joy and relief in the “reunion” scene more than the accepted despair in the “goodbye” scene. That is my opinion.
