Frisco 1522 was pulling the first excursion for the Norfolk Southern in 1988 and she continued on the excursions duties for BNSF all the way until 2002 after the Norfolk Southern Steam Program ended in 1994. In 2002, StLSTA ended, so once again 1522 is back on museum public display.

I got to talk to the crew back in June of 2017 and learned that the pit that was built at the museum so the SLSTA could work on the frames was too shallow and there was little if any support from the St. Louis County Park and Rec.

It’s a hi Railer. Those are trucks that are built with locomotive wheels. They’re usually used for maintenance of way
