people want to talk about SEC bias, but let’s talk about Tulane bias. because every year they are the first team to either be preseason ranked or ranked with more losses than other G5 teams. when Memphis and Tulane met, Memphis body slammed them at their house. they both had the same record, yet Memphis wasn’t ranked. “oh because Tulane didn’t lose to any G5 teams!” ok? so did Army. and Army wasn’t near Tulane at the time. both Memphis and Tulane beat them. so this bowl game doesn’t mean anything but that needs to be addressed. because I also think UNLV and even Marshall would soundly beat Tulane.

@sacred_gАй бұрын
My jaw dropped at the end of the video. What a terrible decision by the refs. Even if you are giving yourself up, you have to maintain control of the ball to the ground to end the play.. Well I guess not anymore. By that ruling, a quarterback that takes a snap in victory formation is down the moment he starts to bend his knee, not when it hits the grass/turf. I simply disagree with that. What a sad ending. Not saying West Virginia would've won, they literally threw a game ending interception. That could've happened again. All I'm saying is they should've been given the chance.

@@duelmaster33and how are you supposed to determine it was a slide at all!? Did they go to him and ask him “hey was that a slide or just an awkward collapse in between two defenders?” The issue here is it was ruled down on the field and it must be INDISPUTABLE video evidence. By definition this is not indisputable and there was nothing on tape that would’ve clarified what the ball carrier was actually doing. Slides are typically obvious. This clearly was not to all of the officials on the field. But give replay booth enough time to come up with a reason to be involved, and they’ll do it. Only Memphis fans see this is a correct call. Literally the rest of football fandom just wanted a good game and we were robbed of an exciting finish by officiating once again.

@@JM_Solo I mean West Virginia would’ve most likely lost anyway if the call was reversed as a fumble. They would’ve been at the 32 yard line with 8 seconds left. Anderson from Memphis nearly cost his team the game. He ran for a first down and then went out of bounds with under two minutes to go. If he had stayed in bounds, West Virginia would have gotten the ball back with less than 10 seconds left. It seems like these kinds of players always make low football IQ plays, whether it's dropping the ball short of the goal line, running out bounds, committing drive-extending penalties...

WOW! That last call was bad! Yeah the rule says once the slide begins the player is ruled down. However, he wasn't down or in slide when the ball was actually knocked out! You can clearly see the foot still raised on 13:14 by looking at the shadow and lighting on his right foot and the ground (watch at 0.25 speed). That was a fumble! The slide began after the ball was already gone! Should not have been overruled! Memphis shouldn't even have allowed the game to be that close to come down to a call like that to save the win for them. Wow!

The play is dead when the player INITIATES the slide. That’s the rule. Correct call.

Shouldn't have gotten the ball back at the end. The only thing that should count on the slide is you get no more forward progress if you hold onto the ball. You are down where your slide begins. You should however, have to hold onto the ball.

Why does Mempis always try their best to choke away 3+ score leads? all you have to do is wait till they are ahead big in bigger end of season games and bet the other team's live spread. 2-3 guaranteed winning live bets each year.
@GR-bn3xjАй бұрын
The other thing you can bet with them is, if a backup quarterback comes in for the other team, they will have a career game. Memphis may still win, but I have seen so many back up QBs have the game of their life against Memphis

If the WVU players in the portal we're smart they would stay now that Rich Rodriguez is coach. This team is going to be a steadfast top #25 team moving forward, and depending on who WVU brings in at QB, and RB this team will be one of the top offenses in the nation. Give Rich Rodriguez a fast QB, a good RB and a couple gadget speedsters they'll recreate what Pat, Slaton, Devine, and Austin we're doing it's going to be very interesting to see who steps up to the plate to be great, because WVU is where to do it. I initially thought that Air Noland entered the portal to go to WVU, or Colorado but no, so I'm going to have to look at the portal. I have a feeling most of the Marshall players that left will stay in state, and go to WVU to.

All those complaining he wasn't down are wrong and the proof in the rule is at 12:01, when the WVU QB starts his slide while scrambling. He starts the slide at that point 1 yard short of the first down. His body doesn't come into contact with the ground until he is at the line to gain. Yet he was marked back prior to that point since the initiation of the slide was started at the 42. Finally, any player that has the ball can give themselves up with a slide. It was clear that the Memphis player was giving himself up. The Refs got this call correct.
