from the creator himself he didnt give them a gender because you are supposed to give on yourself so you get more involved in the story, you can put yourself in their shoes if in your mind you are the same gender. canonically they don't have a gender. their gender is whatever you want it to be. what I take issue with is people making custom characters for roa and giving them a gender. it completely defeats the purpose of putting yourself in the characters shoes. This is why I like the kris release. they didnt specify a gender with the character model. you think of the character with whatever gender you have.

Well then its a good thing this isnt anything canonical lmao. If they choose to give Frisk a gender thats just their headcanon. Frisk wasnt given a gender in undertale for the purpose you described. It immerses you in the story. But for RoA, its not that big of a deal. basically what im sayin is, lets just focus on the character itself rather than the gender, which doesnt really matter.
