My word. This is more than great playing. This is angelic. Another perfect gem of his that I keep going back to on KZbin is a 1917 shellac of his arrangement for violin of Paderewski's "Menuet". It's so artfully played.

Strictly speaking this is not the Rondo from the Haffner Serenade but Kreisler's very free arrangement with quite a bit of his own music. Beautifully played of course.

Actually, I taught this some years ago and compared Kreisler's to the original. It appeared to me that he just made a pretty big cut, and of course added cadenzas. Without that cut there are a lot more repetitions of the Rondo theme and the whole thing takes about 15 minutes. That's how I remember it anyway. And the cut is quite clever too.
