You could slap a huge amp from Emotiva on these speakers and never think again about power efficiency. The Morel drivers are very similar to the Dynaudio raw drivers that were very popular in the 90s, and they carry along the tradition of using thin and light polypropylene cones with high amounts of mineral fill for stiffness, and very large voice coils that encircle the magnets in the motor, rather than the more common small-diameter coils. The large voice coils mean that these drivers handle more power in the long term, but they can take incredible amounts of power for short periods of time - Morel even claims up to 1000W momentary power handling. So grab an internet-direct mega amp and crank it.

I love how people say it looks like then proceed to say what it sounds like, in the comments below. Knowing what something sounds like just by looks, must be an amazing skill. I've heard only about 20 different bookshelves, and even more towers but I'm sure if I see enough speakers I too will be able to tell what they sound like just by looks. That would save me a lot of time trying to hear them to pick out my bucket list speaker for sure.

Great video. How is the dimensionality of these speakers? I'm looking for a speaker that, when placed correctly, can give me a high, wide & deep soundstage. Thanks & Keep Up The Great Work 👍

Vic G I run Morel both in car and home audio. Just thought it was strange that you should be able to copy these speakers for $300 'cause i know my drivers came to more than that.

Most speakers retail at nearly 5 times what they cost to build. In this video it's more like 4 times the cost.

Vic G Try the likes of Wilson Audio, Sonus Faber Boenicke and it's a lot more than 5 times the price. At least B&O has stuffed the beosound 90 with Scanspeak Illuminators, and not the lower end discovery line!

Looks like a merlin but no where near the sound that former Bobby performed with them.
@ZeroFidelity
@ZeroFidelity 8 жыл бұрын
+Mykoue Yang - You're right. They do look like Merlins! However, these speakers sound nothing alike. Bobby always voiced his speakers to have a bit of sparkle on the top end. He also tended to favor a slightly thin-sounding upper midrange. The Fritz Morel 6's occupy the other end of the tonal spectrum. They are smoother on the top and meatier throughout the midrange and bass. Ultimately, I'd say neither product is inherently better than the other. It's just a matter of personal preference and of course, system synergy.
