I dont mind the weather too much. Its just the mud, it makes everything more difficult.

I use a 3/4 length trekoogy mat in my hammock have tried other sizes, but if they’re wider or longer, they seem to slip about too much. have to admit, I’ll still use an under quilt as I feel the cold now even in the summer. I keep meaning to try a mylar blanket in the pocket but I never get round to it Nice video, Take care, jim😊

Hi Jim. Love that hammock with the ‘pad pocket’. Maybe next time put a reflective mat in, the same size as it. Should keep you pretty warm. The type of reflective I like to use is the silver plastic bubble type stuff, cut to length from a large roll of home insulation. Cut it bigger than you need. You can always fold it to size, and it folds up nice for in your rucksack. All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧

Its a good idea that I have seen a few people do. Never tried it myself.

Nice one Allan... I woke up to lots of condensation on the tarp this morning it was a damp night indeed...
@jim-bob-outdoorsАй бұрын
It was a mixture of proper rain and mist locally. Not bad, but enough to get you wet. 😁

I use a thick foil windscreen cover inside the hammock ,so heat is reflected

I'm not a camper, hiker, or outdoors guy at all; I have never been or done any of these things. However, I find your channel, MDM Mark, Andy, and Simon the Bloke videos relaxing, enjoyable, interesting, and informative. I was wondering, how do you know all this bushcraft, woodsmanship stuff? Were you in the Scouts as a boy or have training in this from the military? It seems you could offer courses and training on bushcraft and woodsmanship as a career.

Country boy that was brought up doing this sort of stuff, and then spent a few years doing logging for a living. Glad you enjoy the videos. Regards JB.

I've tried the sleep mat in the sleeping bag with me which works slightly better.
@jim-bob-outdoorsАй бұрын
It can, but the mat I was using would be too big. The would be no room for me. 😁😁

To prevent the mattress from moving, you can stick Rug Pad Gripper/Carpet stickers on it. I have it in one and this one has never strayed away. Because they are not rigid, they can be bent while you fold/deflate the mattress.

Good idea. 👍

I couldn’t agree more!! I’m a ddhammocks nut here in New England. Frontline and the 3x3. I also have the regular camping hammock. Does anyone have an opinion on the dd under blanket? Thanks.

@jim-bob-outdoorsАй бұрын
I had 2 different ones on this camp. The waterproof camo one was the British army Gortex one. The green hiking jacket is just a cheap one from Primark. Light and warm. 😁

Its a rip-off of the German army one. It will hold about the same as the British Bergan, smaller pockets but bigger main section. Way more padding, better hip bet and straps etc.
