I am in my early 60s and retired at 53. Lots of people gave me pushback because they had difficulty grasping the concept of not working if you don’t have to. I looked at my life as stages. I earned everything I have now through a lot of hard work, but I owe it to myself to “stop and smell the roses” in my final stage of life. In my case I left the country after I retired and live in Latin America. It allowed me to get away from all the negative things happening in America while appreciating my new environment. I have yet to meet anyone who regrets retirement.

It's happening as we speak......."the tokenization of real world assets: Stocks, bonds, real estate, essentially anything of real value" onto distributed ledger systems (i.e. Blockchain). Once the markets have matured with proper regulations in place (hopefully) and interoperability between ecosystems, you will be able to trade 24/7/365, more efficiently, with lightning speed settlement times and much lower trading fees. Time zones with respect to when exchanges open for trading will be irrelevant. NOT Financial Advice. Good luck with your trading!

Renting in the Philippines is a crazy idea. Few owners actually make repairs and deferred maintenance is a big problem. Plus if the place is sold or the rent is increased you have keep moving. Another problem is check writing where prepay checks for the term of the lease are required from your Philippine Bank. You will need an ACR card and/or married to a Filipina to open up or get approved for a bank account. Most places are dumps when it comes to renting. Few owners want to rent to foreigners as well. They are unpredictable.

He shouldn’t have moved back. There’s more job opportunities in the US especially for young people he will miss out on. If you’re from the US, Philippines is where you go to retire when you’re old but not for someone trying to still grow their careers and make money. Also, day trading is not a stable source of income, that’s why he probably chose Philippines to live cheaper cuz he can’t afford life in Texas anymore.

That's why I'm only going to stay in the Philippines in the winter between December - April. The contract work I do is just too lucrative to pass up and easy. I'll be saving up and dropping money a house in the meantime.

I love the culture but I hate looking at any form of material Poverty. As an elitist person with great wealth, I would rather keep my wealth in America and avoid impoverished areas or people. That’s why I will never move myself or my money to the Philippines. I sincerely despise poverty. At least in America I have the choice and ability to use my money and keep away from anything related to poverty or inconvenience. In the Philippines, you have to face the Pobreza of the nation and blend to adjust with their conservative culture. In America I can be very comfortable and Choose a wealthy lifestyle and block anything that will bring me problems. The last time I visited, I could not stay longer than seven days before I booked my trip back from Pampanga to Los Angeles. I don’t think that country will really change even in the next Century. They don’t even give Divorce to women and there are also no LGBT rights. Philippines is far from a perfect country, despite the illusion of a “tourist beach paradise”. But I also understand the sex appeal to many foreigners who seek their prostitution culture like in Thailand. Philippines also ♥️ their Bugaw culture and local Corruption and Bribery is so rampant. Truly so.
