I wouldn't lump Kamala in with Cherngtalay; they are very different places, and even travelling between them can be a pain, especially in high season. There's still a village feel to Kamala, which is very different to Cherngtalay. Getting to Boat Avenue in Cherngtalay from Kamala (and from Surin) can take as much as 30 minutes in high season. Technically, Kamala is in Kathu, anyway.

Thank you for your lovely feedback, I appreciate it! It can be overwhelming choosing an area to retire. I definitely recommend 'trying out' different areas. Book accomodation for a month at a time and get a really good feel for the area.

You never mentioned healthcare availability. That's a big deciding factor for many aging expats self included.

Good point! It was something that we considered and I forgot to mention it in my video, so thank you for bringing it up. Both Hua Hin and Phuket have great access to great healthcare with both public and private hospitals readily available.

I like the Rawayana, it replaced alot of bars... too many bars in Rawai in my opinion.
