Scorch going from the funny clone of delta to a cold imperial enforcer is both scary and tragic. I can only imagine the fate of the rest of Delta Squad. If Sev is still missing, there’s a chance he’s avoided Order 66 and could be living in peace or trying to find the rest of his brothers. But chances are Boss and Fixer are in one of those other training facilities like Gregor escaped from.

Delta squad itself has been considered Canon, yes. However, scorch is the only confirmed member to have been carried over from Legends so far. As far as we know, sev, boss, and fixer, may very well not even exist in this universe or timeline. Scorch may never have even been funny in this universe. He might have just been a pyromaniac with sev's personality. Which is kind of cursed to think about, but we don't know how Disney has the backgrounds written for the members of Delta squad, or if they're even is a backstory anymore. They might just be background characters at this point. It's sad, but leave it to Disney to destroy everyone's childhoods.

But I seriously doubt his presence there will amount to anything more than a cameo character so they can have a unique clone commando with an already established backstory. Obviously Scorch is different (and presumably strongly affected by an inhibitor chip, given his total personality shift), but my suspicion is that the platoons of clone commandos under Hemlock's control are mostly not true commandos from the war. I think that a lot of them are regs that were assessed to have a particularly high degree of loyalty, were given upgraded armor and maybe some extra training and then used as special project guards. This would explain why there are suddenly so many of them, and why they are primarily security guards rather than acting like true special forces.

I like to think the clone commandos like scorch are a reflection of veteran soldiers who started off knowing what they were getting into but didnt have it really set in until they had years of experience. The years of losing your brothers in arms and how much ptsd takes a toll on soldiers is really shown. The average person hears stories of how soldiers go to war and comeback completely different while still being driven towards the original cause. I like to think scorch is a great example of this. He had a fun and quirky personality at 1st but then moved onto a more serious and emotionless soldier by the time he joined the empire. By the time he was working for the newly established empire he had years of experience and loss. His ability to think and learn for himself outside of the mission paragotives really must put a strain on his mind and thought process. I like to think these types of soldiers continue to work and put in max effort to their known cause because if they dont the emotional baggage will all come crashing down. It ironically gives them hope or a reason to go on. Yet it is also a double bladed sword because it can lead to their emotions clouding their judgement. I say "also" because the average storm trooper who knows only how to follow orders has a double edged sword in being that they need to be told how to act. If the orders given are faulty than it can lead to disaster for the storm trooper. Making them not much better than a droid. Thats why as mentioned on geonosis when given poor orders by the jedi order who did not know how to utilize their skill sets effectively they took a lot of hard hits.

That was something I personally didn’t like about the republic commando game. They’re all supposed to be clones but three of them have vastly different voices. You could argue that’s the case with Dee Bradley Baker and Temuera but I see that as them trying to have Jango and Boba as a direct representation of father and son. While the clones are like the step children/siblings in the middle. I prefer how it is now with Dee slightly changing the tones and accents but still sounding like clones.

Supposedly they actually were meant to have the same voice as boss, but play testers from back then reported that it was hard to tell who was who, so they went back and hired individual VAs for each member. So, the likely reason for different voices is strictly tied to the game itself, rather than any lore explanation.

So I have a theory. The Bad Batch is actually Filioni trying to canonize Omega Squad. Omega was unofficially known as Niner's Squad, where Niner had Omega's position of the one who was doing the wellness checks and helping the other squad members work through their Issues. I think Omega may also partially take the place of Etain being that she is likely Force Sensitive, being that she is highly empathic. If this is the case then the Bad Batch are literally Omega Squad. You have Crosshair who is Fi down to the head injury and not being as capable as he was previous. Echo, who represents Corr with the prothetic arm. Tech who is a more Asperger-y version of Atin with his developing romance. I think Wrecker is supposed to represent Etains initial assessment of Omega's squad feeling like a bunch of children in the force because of their under developed psyches, he also picks up Darmans Demolitions Expert position. Hunter is just Rambo.
@claymclaren57888 ай бұрын
so to clarify my first point. Omega is filling Niner's position on the team. In the books Omega squad is also known as "Niner's squad". Being that Omega is filling Niner's role it makes "The Bad Batch" litterally "Omega squad".

Behind all of the behavioural programming and brainwashing, the clones are mentally still becoming teenagers. Remember, clones were engineered to age *twice* as fast as normal people, no faster than that. Otherwise for Scorch to have trained CF99 at all, they'd have to look even younger than Omega, and would probably still be learning how to put their own clothes on.

The first time I saw Return of the Jedi, in theatre during the original run, when Palpatine exploded I already assumed that was the Sith version of what Yoda did at the beginning of the film. So I was always expecting him to come back. The Sith method of becoming one with the Dark Side and retaining consciousness has to be a violent reflection of the Jedi method. Before Qui-Gon the Jedi didn't know or had forgotten how to do it. Prior to Siddious the Sith means of preserving consciousness has been to anchor to a physical object, like the Helmet of Darth Momin, who designed Vader's castle via host bodies before he tried to take out Vader. Like Qui-Gon, Palpatine found a way to get there without an object. The Sith explodes instead of fading peacefully, and I'd imagine if he hadn't been thrown down that shaft he'd have killed Luke and Vader when he blew so Sith Bonus. Thing is, Palpatine isn't going to be satisfied as a disembodied spirit, everyone always knew that. That is why the Dark Horse Comics story Star Wars Dark Empire exists. It takes place 6 years after ROTJ and Palpatine has been surviving in a succession of clone bodies, but he wants something more permanent, Leia's unborn child. Luke even becomes his apprentice for a while.

For now my headcanon for Scorch is that either he and the other Commandos are brainwashed by their inhibitor chips like Crosshair was at first, but the effect wore off quickly for Crosshair and he had his removed but chose to stay with the Empire, while the COmmandos are brainwashed, this erased Scorch's more lighthearted peronality, or there's just sometheign about the indocrination process or their genetics that made Commandos more likely to remain loyal with the ones we see at Mount Tantus screened for loyalty and brought in because of this, with Gregor seemign lyal only to turn o the EMpire after seeing what his trainees were for. And for Scorch it could be that with the loss of Sev it basically "broke" him, and he no longer chares about the lives of the Regs enough to stand against the Empire. I seriously hope we get soon a good look into the mind of a Commando, especially Scorch. War can cause all kinds of trauma to a person, for Scorch it could be the loss of Sev broke him so he's now Careless and mission focused. We need a remake of Republic Commando with a graphics and gamepley (optional) upgrade, and chabging enemy units to better fit into canon, and even add tons of new story missions that interweave into the Clone Wars tv show. THey can either keep the original voices just so it's easier to tell who's talking and maybe even add in an option to have Dee Bradly Baker just do all the voices of the Clones so you can do which one you prefer, and the game ends with an epilogue showing Delta being split up and Scorch going to Mount Tantus.

It would of made sense if it was the Coruscant Guard in place of the commandos.

The TK stormtroopers armour reminds me of the Ralf Mcquarry concept art for the original film. Coincidence?

No. Just about as intentional as anything can be.

12:07 a lot of people pointed out the fact that the "Clone Commandos" we see in the Bad Batch feel like "regs on steroids"...except for Scorch, who appears to be way better than the rest of the CCs we see. I pondered if that could be because Scorch is a veteran from as early as the very start of the war, the Battle Of Geonosis, whereas the other commandos are younger and more inexperienced, a newer batch churned out to train TK troopers and serve as security forces (the guys we see with the gray markings, the Imperial Royal Guard, not to be confused with the Emperor's red-clad bodyguards) before they grow too old due to their accelerated aging. But this makes sense, too. In a shortage of clone commandos, the Empire must've retrofitted regs into commandos by giving them better armor, better training and Bacta processing implants. I think in Legends, there was a clone trooper who served alongside Omega Squad, Corr, a reg with prosthetic arms, who received a "commando upgrade" like that. But despite their new perks, these guys are still not the same as "OG" Commandos like Scorch, they're not bred to have that rebellious, "outside the box" thinking. Temuera Morrison, the actor who plays Jango, Boba and voices Boss from Republic Commando, has said that Boss is the clone closest to a Jango Fett himself (barring Boba, who's an unaltered clone who doesn't have accelerated aging), speaking with a similar accent, mannerisms, and generally sharing Jango's sardonic sense of humor. I think this is also why Scorch wasn't given an all-white or IRG suit of armor. His markings are now meant not for individuality, but to differentiate him from his "inferior" quasi-commando brethren. So that an Imperial officer like Hemlock could take one quick glance at him and know: "Ah, this commando is one of the few remaining original commandos, a veteran from the Battle Of Geonosis, we could make good use of him while he's still viable". There's a reason why Hemlock has made Scorch his right-hand man - he knows he's better. This is also why, I believe, we don't see Boss and Fixer by Scorch's side. OG Commandos are few and far between, so the Empire has peppered them sparingly among its forces - one, two or three per no less than a platoon (Scorch, Gregor and maybe one more commando were the only OG commandos on the training facility on Daro - the rest were "retrofitted regs"). There's also the fact that Republic Commandos generally operate in squads of four, but that's not necessarily how Imperial Commandos are structured. We see them operate in larger, platoon-sized groups (about 20 to 50 operatives). The Empire also likely wanted to separate ex-teammates to remove any feeling of comradery between them. It wants Imperial Commandos to be loyal to the Empire, not to each other. Scorch is a brilliant example - he almost rebelled against his orders to leave Sev behind on Kashyyyk, and that was probably taken note of. We see that Scorch no longer sports the anti-armor cannisters on his body, and that instead of talking with his higher-pitched voice (the one voiced by Raphael Sbarge), he instead speaks with the generic clone voice. I think there are several reasons why Delta squad spoke with different voices (I think their helmet has a voice-changing function, similar to Vader's helmet giving him that booming, intimidating, James Earl Jones voice) - not just for the sake of individuality, the way their armor is painted differently, but also practicality. Keep in mind, Delta squad were sent on covert special operations deep into enemy territory, where it would be them against the enemy. While they could potentially encounter clones, Wookiees or other allies, or be given air support by an LAAT/i gunship, they'd do their mission on their own, and it certainly helps in a tactical situation to know who's talking to you at any given time. Because he serves as a commander and bodyguard to Hemlock, and not a special operative that's part of a 4-man team, Scorch was probably told to turn this feature off. As for why Scorch doesn't turn on the Empire, given that we know what a rebellious and witty individual he can be? I think this has to do with Delta squad having to leave Sev on Kashyyyk. As cliched as it may sound, a part of Scorch was also lost with Sev, that day. When the Jedi ordered Delta squad to pull out and didn't give them the chance to go after Sev while he was getting overwhelmed by droids, Scorch became bitter and cynical. Then Order 66 went into effect, shortly after, and the Republic became an Empire. Scorch realized that, Empire or Republic, his superiors view him and his brothers not as individuals, but as mere assets. So even though he probably, deep down, loathes the TK troopers as being unworthy replacements of clones, especially clone COMMANDOS, he has begrudgingly made peace with the fact that all he, Boss and Fixer will ever be, are tools in the hands of those who command them, eventually to be thrown away when wearing out. Why doesn't he rebel against the Empire? And go where? Hope for what? That the Empire will be overthrown one day and that a new regime might come about, one that treats clones as people? The way the Jedi so cruelly disregarded Sev, in his eyes, leads Scorch to believe that, whatever system he or his brothers are under, they will always be considered, not unlike droids, mere weapons of war and nothing else. And with his accelerated aging, he doesn't have much left to live, to enjoy living, anyway. In his eyes, clone rebels such as Gregor or the eponymous Bad Batch, are idealists, foolishly trying to avoid the inevitable. There's also the fact that Clone Force 99 have each other. Crosshair always had it, in the back of his mind, that his brothers (and sister) would accept him if he turned on the Empire. Scorch is separated from his old Delta buddies. And even if he could defect, there's no guarantee that Fixer and Boss (even if he somehow managed to find them) would follow him, instead of detaining him or gunning him down for his treachery against the Empire. So there's that. Scorch has no support system. But much like Crosshair, Scorch is not beyond convincing. Especially if Sev survived and rebelled against the Empire. If Scorch and Sev met again - one as an Imperial, the other as a rebel, I bet Scorch would turn on the Empire in an instant. He'd be given...hope.

They pretty much are the death trooper equivalent. Special forces troopers that are assigned to guard high value targets I mean Palaptine is rly invested in Hemlok work so having your best troops guarding it makes sense.

I suspect the Clone Assassin is actually an imperfect Crosshair clone, and a future imperfect Crosshair clone, embedded with Midiclorians might very well be the basis for Snoke, who looks very similar to him. Maybe they'll say that injecting the midiclorians into cloned bodies cause the deformations and degradations seen in Snoke and later Palpantine's decaying clone body.

How the Regs looks at a Commando: DELUXE MODEL
@viperson98188 ай бұрын
Unlike clones I imagined clone commandos have done some insane stuff. Stuff that reg clones like Rex wouldn’t approve of in the name of the republic. Which would probably explain these commandos loyalty. The things the empire does will make make regs question it but to commandos it’s just another job.

1:21 No they aren't, this was made clear by Gregor's reaction to them when they rescued him. Furthermore, unlike Clone Commandos, Clone Force 99 has the 'CT' designation, making them technically clone troopers and not commandos

Considering the loss of Tipoca City, he'd probably understand needing non-clone troopers. Also possibly considered the life-span of the units, like against the CIS there were constant significant losses so his clone brethren's short life span wouldn't be an issue, but this new Empire is supposed to last and these new troops aren't expected to be chewed through as quickly. Better investment to teach skills to. If he were aware of the numbers CIS vs GAR, order 66, and the dissolution of the CIS in short order he'd know that he is still working for the same force.
