A few notes: -There is a third form for the Alien, only found underground. -Holes can be collapsed with a shovel. -The Rock is a debug item, never meant to be survival friendly. It has no recipe, last time I checked, so I'm not sure where you got that fact from! The Alien Circuit act more as a trophy currently. -I heard there was a plan to make the bigger things, like Splitface, not afraid of fire. Because, it is big. I think it has been done in beta test build of the mod? -The fact that the sensors detect you by sound only is clearly a glitch. The whole gimmick is visual, in the opposite of the sculk. So being out of sight, one way of another, is the key here. -While it may look harmless, a catalyst without its sensor, the catalyst itself can spread assimilated sculk and even grow back new sensors or shriekers. As you saw where it spread veins on blocks, it couldn't convert without the death of a mob. -There are a bunch of configs to customize your experience, like making the assimilated sculk react to mobs other than the player. Overall, a very good showcase, truly! Just make sure to mention when a mod is used along the main mod. For instance, you can't normally keep things frozen outside their blocks, shrink them and display them on blocks, so this got me to wonder what mod you used lol!

Thank you for the advice! I'd like to clarify some things: - I knew that the Alien Thing had a 3rd form, i just didn't know how to get it to transform into it - Didn't have enough time to go fully into detail about tunnels so thank you for explaining how to destroy them - The Alien Circuitry simply being a trophy doesn't feel right. At the very least, I feel like there is something more planned for it - Stronger Things being fearless of fire makes sense since they can understand how powerful they really are - I was unsure if sneaking actually worked, thank you for the clarification - Thing Catalysts spreads much like a regular Catalyst, so it would only be able to create Sensors/Shriekers on Sculk blocks. Preventing a Thing Catalyst from becoming active should be as easy as cleaning up any Thing Sculk it creates. - For obvious reasons I analyze anomalies using default config settings but I have some ideas for incorporating configuration into an analysis. And finally, the secret to shrinking mobs and putting them on display is... ​@@SculkedAura Yeah, as much as the Alien Circuit has potential, I don't believe it will create an item as op as the debug "rock" in the future. But it was important to mention that so there would be no correlation between the two items. Keeping a Thing Catalyst inactive sounds like gardening lmao. That's nice to hear regarding config settings. I guessed so, but I wanted to point out it exist. Ah ah, the secret mod! I should have known (I didn't)! This infection mod has so much potential but too bad the developer would less likely to update it again according to him. Its been almost a year i think What sets this apart from other infection mods is that it is the fear that lurks within the world. And not an in your face one. Always on edge while trying to gather resources. But it does really spread fast like wildfire once it infects. What I hate about this mod is that it eats bullets :( whilst in the series you can definitely kill them with shotguns/explosives/high caliber weapons.

I mean canonically only the small ones could get killed via ballistics (in the 2002 video game at least, in the prequel it just makes them do mitosis), sure it would've been cool to have a "weakening" mechanic similar to the game where you can damage them with normal weapons but have to finish them off with fire (something like staying on 1 HP).

the vines trying to eat me and the sculk trying to eat me, both shocked and surprised me. death angels ignoring the alien, fungus infection ignoring him, shocked me, turning lava to obsidion and phasing through walls shocked me. this mod always seems to shock me, no matter how many times i play it

This is probably my favorite infection mod to date aside from Fungal Infection: Spore. It's one of the few mods that's fair instead of turning into a cesspit of overpowered mobs once it reaches enough points. Plus, it works with a lot of other mods i enjoy and that's always good. A shame rhat it isnt being updated anymore though.

I love this mod but it's a little annoying how they literally can't be killed unless you're using fire. If you're in a village and see one alien, you'll accidentally burn down the whole village trying to kill it.

Fire isn't the only way to kill a Thing. The Wither effect or effects that prevent regen like Alex's Caves Irradiated effect can stop their regen, but most will just stick with the Flamethrower to deal with them.

​@@SculkedAuratoo bad, in the series they could be killed with shotguns/high powered assault rifles. Handguns would take much more but shotguns proves effective aswell. But ingame I tried every gun mod yet it eats my bullets. But you can use rocket launchers/grenades/landmines to kill a group or beasts,blair you name it. But it would take a lot of resources. Having to use a flamethrower everywhere can be annoying i burnt myself by accident so many times and even burnt my house down in panic haha

Question: how do the invaders stack up against the strongest mobs in the base game? How well do things do against Bosses, assuming they can even interact?

Technically Things can fight Champions like the Ender Dragon/Wither, but... Ender Dragon: Even with the Dragon flying, it would be a one sided battle, since the Dragon has no way to stop the extreme regen. The Ender Dragon is immune to Assimilation so it won't be an instant victory. Wither: The ONLY champion that is capable of killing Things alone due to it inflicting the Wither effect, which stops the extreme regen and being immune to Assimilation. Long story short, if a mob isn't immune to Assimilation or doesn't have a way to stop the extreme regen, it is guaranteed to lose. (Even the Warden, while immune to Assimilation, will still lose to a Thing as it can't stop the regen) P.S. It is possible to overpower the regen by dealing high enough DMG, but nothing in base Vanilla can achieve that level of DMG.

@@SculkedAura Yeah, that would make sense. Canonically, fire is so effective against Things because you need to kill every individual cell of one to make sure it stays dead. It makes sense that the Wither sickness would have a similar effect. A lot of effort was clearly put into being as lore accurate to the John Carpenter film and the original books as possible.

Its meant to say XCLU, as in eXCLUsive (Spelling error on my part) XCLU mobs are ones who don't spawn naturally and can either be found in a specific area (Elder Guardians, Shulkers) or is summoned through unnatural means (Wither, Snow Golems)

I was immediately turned off from your video when I realized you don't talk, and it's just text. Now, this video is a month old, so maybe you've changed that for more recent videos, but 50% of KZbin is the audio experience. 50% of people who use KZbin try to fall asleep to it, which is hard when there is nothing to fall asleep to. Using only text excludes whole groups of people. Plus, the text draws you away from the visual action.

If you're watching a showcase, you're here to learn about the thing being discussed in question, audio or text doesn't change that. Plus, if you can't watch something happen and look at subtitles, that seems kinda like a you problem.

I don't put on a 50-minute video about the complexity that went into creating Lord of the Rings because I want to learn something, I put it on because it's 50 minutes of talking. I hardly even registered that it was a showcase. I was only interested in the The Thing part, and I wanted to listen to a guy calmly explain the different elements of the mod while I completely drown out all of it and accidentally fall asleep before plugging my phone in, having it die, and miss my alarm in the morning.
