One of the parts about skating that ive been struggling with and not able to find a lot of information on, is breathing. Like what's a good breathing cadence for different speeds? What's a good breathing pattern as you go from right to left to right through the cycle of skating?

Hey Viktor! Thanks for another helpful video! I'm that total stranger that ran into you on Saturday afternoon at the shops after the Northshore Marathon. Thank you for being friendly to a random fellow skater like me! For future videos something on climbing hills and maintaining good form would be great as it's something I struggle with. Also for ice season a good guide for proper skate sharpening would be awesome!

I enjoy your Dryland workouts.... I am still very wobbly on speed skates because my ankle are not strong enough. Thanks for the uploads!

Thanks for these video's. The hardest part for me is really understanding for myself what I would be doing 'wrong' or not ideal. Especially about the little details, I just have no clue. Any tips on really finding out about yourself, being a solo road skater? Or, euhm, if you're ever in the western part of Belgium, do drop by and join me for a ride 😀

Very nice with some technical tips. Personally I would love to see videos to correct my technique. I see that you are perhaps pronating ever so slightly on your right foot. But you may already be working on that

Great informational video! I have a pair of K2 Trio LT fitness skates, every time I skate, only my right tibialis anterior tendon hurts! Is this a fit problem or technique issue? Without seeing my form I understand it’s an unfair question but thoughts on how to resolve this problem?

At 10:38 I didn't get your arm swing comment. You are saying we should use our arm swing to drive our weight into the ground?

I recently got a pair of speed skates after skating on fitness inlines for years and my ankles are like jello to the point that I cant go over 20 kph because id lose control. How could I train my ankles to stop jiggling?

Hi Viktor, Good video. I am still puzzled though by what Pascal Briand says in his double push video about the body doing a figure of 8 motion (see "pascal briand vlog 259" at 17:10). He leans quite a bit too. I hear you that those movements can become counterproductive very easily (esp. for beginners). Distance ice skaters now also do a marked up-down, where they are down on the push, then up for the set-down and skate edge transition. Thoughts ?

Hi Michael! :) Yea, it's a really fine balance between a relaxed and efficient use of body weight and momentum, and going into a bouncy loss of pressure... It is true that is has gotten popular on the ice. As long as everything comes back into a powerful position with hips/skates/shoulders pointing forward as one transitions from one skate to another, I don't think it will hurt. That is not so easy to beginner, like you said :) I think that's why it's easier to think about the right position (especially where to position one's weight) at first :)
