I went from black to blonde in one day once. My friend was in beauty school so she did it and we used 40 vol three times on my long beautiful hair. Completely fried my hair, obviously. So I had to cut it to a short pixie cuz it was breaking off. Soo... then if I want to go lighter from a darker I do it in steps over many months with my stylist. Now I don't go any light or dark than a shade from my natural. Decided health is more important than drastic changes.

So happy I have stopped bleaching and dyeing my hair, even thou I never bleached my hair at home. Now I have natural silver highlights😅 and my hair has gotten so healthy.

Legit question @hair-buddha. You said if you keep applying box dye, the pigments layer. I get that. But, in my experience, the color also fades, and especially at the ends where hair is drier or more damaged, it loses color more quickly. How do you prevent this without layering more color?

I have used L’Oréal Feria (Box Dye) #56 auburn for 20+ years. The auburn is my natural color, but when I started going grey (in patches, no less) I refused and started using L’Oréal Feria. My hair is extremely long, below my back, and very curly. I re-dye grow out every 6-weeks, however I dust powdered cover up to stretch out the re-dye time from 4-weeks and 6-weeks. I get nothing but compliments on the color, texture and quality of my hair. Daily. So what he says about using the same brand repeatedly must be spot on.

I went from dyed black to blonde twice. As long as you give your hair a break and are willing to have yellow/orange hair for a few weeks it actually works. However the texture will be very bad. And you will have to cut your hair shorter.

I dont drink, but imagine a drinking game: Make a playlist of bleach fails. Have a drink everytime someone: -says they're using a toner/toning but it's silver shampoo -bleach again expecting a diff.result(another drink every time) -arent using thin sections -"I dont use bleach!/Bleach is bad"(but pours anything around the house over the hair, dishsoap, vitamin C, etc -They rip off their bleached, fragile hair with a brush/hands -"Surprised look, mouth open, wide eyes" That true look of horror. -"it's actually not bad🤔" Suggest more?
