I was a Christian for 16 years. But recently my dad fell deathly ill to the point of being rushed to the ER. I had been following paganism for some time, but I prayed to make a pact with The All Father. My undying faith in this life and the next. So that my father would come home safe. I know pacts are not made lightly with the gods, but with my dad's medical history I felt it necessary. And wouldn't ya know, he came home right as rain as if nothing ever happened. Now I hold true to my beliefs more now then ever. In honor of my father, and The All Father. Skaal.

A subject I am all to familiar with. I was a devout "born again" Christian and involved with praise and worship ministry within the Assemblies of God for 30 years. My best advice is to take your time & heal from the religious trauma and the loss of deeply held faith. It can be extremely painful to have those roots yanked out. I spent years un-indoctrinating. I wasn't even able to begin looking in other areas for my spirituality for probably 6-7 years after coming to terms with my loss. I did eventually embrace the old ways and gods of our ancestors but I had lingering fears of hellfire for a time. Now, not at all. I've come across a sea of turmoil and can now safely say I know myself and what my beliefs are without any fears. Be easy with yourself and absorb info, be brave when Christian family try to pen you down. If they can be proud of their beliefs then so can you!

I think the more experiences you have walking a pagan path only affirm more and more you are on the right one. Like you said its taken me years too to remove that lingering fear of being "wrong" but it does go away in time!

@@theymockedjesusalso On the contrary, I had a very deep and real "born again" experience that was sorrowful, repentant and life-changing. I was a hurricane of faith & loved God with everything in me. How else could I have been involved in ministry so long. It was just as real a salvation experience as any other born again Christians', with true repentance and crying out for the Lord to forgive me and wash me of my life of sin and be the lord of my life. 30 years I spent in love with Jesus and leading others to salvation. So yeah, I was every bit as born again, radically saved, spirit-filled, follower of Christ that you are probably claiming to be. You can think whatever you want to if it comforts you. I've been there and also felt that need sometimes as well. It's not truth but if it comforts you and that's what you need to think, more power to you. However if mine wasn't real, I have some seriously bad news for you, yours is just as unreal. I'm fine with that, as well. Because in the end it is all emotion based, fear, guilt, and control.

Really apart of Christ as by your words if you’ve really served in ministry 30years it must have taken a massive event for you too lose your faith. As I don’t accept the excuse of this extreme emotional event caused me to lose my faith stick that people normally talk about as you who else had extreme emotional events the prophets of the Old Testament and the disciple’s of Christ they were persecuted for merely believing they were thrown in jail beat flogged hanged killed and so much more and yet even though they may have had doubts they still persevered to the end and if all it took was Ether one emotional event to break you you were never going to make it in the church as Christ say we’re to expect what I had just mentioned what happen to the apostles but what they did to Christ himself now I’m sure you have your reasons however. I find it ridiculous to lose your faith over things that are temporary and everything is temporary You having a job is temporary have cars houses food water etc are temporary things even pain is though it doesn’t seem like it at first. So I’m stuck here asking why someone Would lose their faith over something so ridiculously small when Christ told us you’ll be hated you’ll be slandered you’ll be thrown in jail unjustly accused and then more than likely killed for merely believing on him. So again where you really born again Or is that what you’ve told yourself to make you feel better? As Lucifer claims to be an angel of light and yet we know he is a deceiver. So as you can see one hides under a false shield of good while the other is actually good so did you really believe at all or did you just say you believed as anyone can say they believe in something and never follow through with it and again I have to ask what was the things that lead up to your leaving? As I understand it you ether are of him totally or your against him Christ makes that very blunt point to everyone your ether with God or where never part of him to begin with and Christ in the New Testament Outlines this very well to show you who the genuine one are from the fakes the genuine one will go onto death for him and will take all that pain and suffering but will push through it all to the end or you can be the other guy who gives up on trying to be righteous and instead loses himself to the world around him that is all temporary all though fainting something Christ talks about And say that it takes faith not to faint in this world and to in general follow him I also have to ask what do you have right now do you live in a house apartment a car do you have clothes food in your stomach do you have water to drink if the answer is yes even if you have just a little of these thing your still much better off then most people who have none of those things

@@billshell6222 I never mentioned anything about what caused my renunciation of Christ but it was not a simple, painless, nor a quick decision. It was something years in the making. Then after so much over years of time piled up it took one huge event that weakened my faith just enough to allow me to question those deeply rooted beliefs I held for so many years. That began another 5-6 years of a bareboned truth searching period trying to hold onto my faith but willing to question things that weren't adding up. Things I would have never questioned before. However, a real truth-seeker will come to a place that even their very strong beliefs are even questionable. If one never has a period like that, then I question whether they are even a real truth-seeker. Truth is truth no matter how much it sucks when it slaps you in the face. It can be painful & having your deeply rooted faith whither & rot and be yanked up is extremely painful. Cognitive dissonance wants to kick in but again a truth-seeker will follow the journey through the thorns, the agony, and not run back to the comfort of his beliefs. So yeah, I came through the process and am now fully un-indoctrinated or deprogrammed of the cult of Abrahamic religion, namely being an evangelical born again Christian. Men's holy books are just men putting God(s) in a small box of their own defining. There is nothing holy written in any texts whether it's the Torah, Peter, Paul or Mark. Nothing in the Quran, or the Vedics texts. It's all just men probably tripping on mushrooms and trying to relate their experiences to their tribes and those stories got passed down over long periods of time until we end up with Judaism, Christianity & Islam.

Just read the Bible and don’t read any of the non cannon scripture until you understand the basics of scriptural cannon. I grew up in a very religious family as seems that the more christianity is pushed on someone from a young age, the more likely they are to abandon that path as they grow older. My own path has been christian, to Wicca, to agnostic, to Celtic paganism, and finally to Norse paganism. The wonderful thing about paganism to me is the lack of "judgement" both as a person and in the light of how one lives one's life. I find most of the highly intolerant people that I know seem to be the most "Christian", where as most of the pagans and heathens I know tend more towards live and let live. Christianity teaches of their god's love, but gloss over the fact that if you don't "believe" in this one nameless being you get to spend an eternity in a lake of fire, but he is supposedly all loving... Break his rules? Burn. Don't believe in him? Burn. Pass, I will no longer worship a nameless God with no connection to my people other than the fact that some of my ancestors were conned into believing his priests.

Agreed@@Thorin7.62. In my case it was because my beloved paternal grandpa passed away. I later learned that in various branches of Christianity and Judaism that there is the belief that interfaith couples won’t be reunited in death. As the daughter of an interfaith couple and the granddaughter of an interfaith couple (my dad’s dad and his beloved stepmom) I am glad I converted to Celtic Wicca.

You know if they are finding really large humans in different places like America and I think Poland now. And Goliath. There isn’t much I would think that didn’t happen in long ago. That at first humans did not believe. The story of fallen angels . They were mighty and the ones that protected the tomb of Jesus were huge. So long ago there were massive reptiles that had to eat and poop to flourish the world and saber tooth tigers. Then after a while a few homosapiens were born and since there were more of them all the huge things left and were smaller just due to evolving into another Way to survive. Real story. Maybe in the 60’s when things were first wild a girl almost got raped and beat but something happened and the guys got scared off. She wakes up in a bad part of town where there are many who would try to do it to her again. She’s scared but she keeps walking and about a block down she has to pass by a guy that was looking to do what someone was about to do to her. And she started praying for help cause she couldn’t go thru it again and survive. And she keeps walking. She walks right past him and nothing happened. She goes to a police station tells them what happened and that she had walked by this guy. The cops didn’t believe her. So they get the guy to come in. They tell him the story about the girl. And he says I didn’t ever see a girl walk by me or she wouldn’t have been around to tell where I was. I only saw a that girl go by at this time but she was with two really really big guys. I couldn’t have got by them.

I grew up Roman Catholic, and yes, a bunch of kneeling and standing up and doing precise things. I went with Celtic Paganism. My Parents switched to Eastern Catholic. When I went to some masses, they had a lot of incense and icons around. My sister stayed with Roman Catholic. Now I consider myself a Norse Pagan. It's been interesting when we get together for family gatherings.

I was raised in a strict Christian household and went to a strict Christian School but I've always had an interest in the Norse Pegan beliefs. I grew up in a state that had many Scandinavian descendants living there, so I was raised hearing the Norse stories and I always felt so connected with them and the culture (I especially liked the stories with Loki in it lol). There was even a point as a teenager where I was considering converting, but due to fear of the Christian community I lived in, I didn't. Recently I've been getting into it again and finally feel ready to go on my own spiritual path. Thank you for this video, it helped a lot :)

I was raised Christian…but at 16 I discovered Wicca. After 30 years of Wicca I feel a bit adrift. I literally keep feeling a pull to Freya. Something that’s never happened to me before. We are just completely unaware of it. the practices of using Nature to know thyself, knowing how to us nature to practice your craft, all comes from ancient Africa all the way to Ancient Pele, and all the way from the Aboriginal Australians from the outback, to the ancient pyramids All EMBODY you today right now, there ancient knowledge is in you already Everyone’s familiar with King Tut, and his mother was Nefertiti, she had many beautiful daughters. She married on of her daughters off to a Scottish King, that just an example of how through the many millions of years of human existence, we have passed down rhe knowledge of ancient wisdom, as old as the Volcano God Pele, this curiosity has existed in all of us for millions of years. Your a combined embodiment of your Wiccan beliefs, as well as Freya and Odin have been within you all along. That you’ve always had the power within you because this hunger of knowledge is deep rooted within your soul already. Embrace it all, and know that when your working and learning your craft, that he powers within you come from all over the world 🌎 The same knowledge our ancient ancestors carried within them when they crossed that last remaining land bridge millions of years ago. @@kellyb1420 thank you? I think 🤔 I’m not sure if you feeling sad for me is an insult…I’m assuming not? Like you said, it’s hard to articulate meaning over a KZbin post. As a Wiccan I was very eclectic in my practice and my study. I’m fully aware of the interconnectedness between the pagan faiths and spiritual paths. I focused mainly on Celtic and Norse deities, because I felt a stronger connection to them. My feeling adrift and pulled towards Norse paganism in general has more to do with community. I’ve practiced as a solitary pagan nearly all my life. So the pull of Freya has more to do with being pulled towards community, as I had already been practicing and venerating Norse deities. As someone who is half Korean, trust me…I get that there’s an interconnectedness. I find that there’s a Korean deity for every Celtic and Norse deity. I’ve never doubted my power or where I stand with that power and the universe. I’d just rather not do it alone anymore and Freya has been pulling me towards community and shared beliefs rather than floating solo. It’s something I feel I need to do slowly, because it’s definitely unfamiliar territory. So I appreciate your comment, it was quite thoughtful and I appreciate that.

We were one big humongous land mass. That the knowledge of ancient Indigenous peoples all the way from Ancient China, Aboriginal Australia, to here where I am in America we were once all connected, Freya is within you already your just waking her up, that’s all. ☺️ Druidism, Paganism, and ancient African Voodoo is allllll connected, and it’s sewn deep within you already, that’s all I mean. You’ve had it all along and so have I…. That’s all I was trying to say…? 🙃 Which is hard to communicate all of this over a text message, it’s easier if I had the actual ancient maps that also included the later land mass bridges that existed after our great big continent started to break apart and section off, it would be easier if I could show you the actual maps and bridges to show you how we all came outta of Africa. It's so hard for me to be able to express my beliefs, especially as the majority of those I know/work with are so against any other beliefs. I can't tell you enough how relieving it is to hear your words. Hi Jacob. I recently found the path to Odin through a long-lost brother I didn't know I had. I grew up Christian and was baptized and confirmed but I lost my faith and my way after not being able to cope with my depression and the emotional abuse from my parents. I never felt a real connection with "God", but after finding the path to Odin all I can tell you that the Norse Gods are real! I moved way up near Canada from the cities and now work at a bait shop and was letting the Gods know that I will soon give them a proper offering and about 2 hours into my shift a little boy comes asking for a "handful of minnows" for his pet turtle, I gave him a scoop for free and his mother says, "say thanks Odin." Yeah, his name was Odin. And I felt their presence and I knew the Gods visited me at work, Thor stopped by the next day. Some random dude I've never seen before had runic tattoos and he complimented me on my Mjolnir I wear. Anyways I'm rambling on. I've learned much from you Jacob as well. I"m only 13 minutes into this video, and I'm so captivated. I just had to stop and say thank you. Thank you for this! I was raised a Southern Methodist, but always felt called to this path. Even as a child. Long story short, at 42 when I no parents or grandparents left to disappoint, I decided right then and there to start living for myself. What's tragic is I actually do live near other Pagans in the US, but they tend to just be too busy and don't actually want to do anything. I have suggested numerous times that we just start with casual get-togethers and tried to set the bar low to make it easy. It's straight up brutal when all these fake religions and open con artists have their huge megachurches and real people interested in the truth can't seem to get anything at all, but we truly live in a tyrannical and corrupt age, facilitated at every level by both big corporations and governments, as well as other corrupt private interests motivated to control and enslave others. It seems the only thing holding the System together is being completely against honor and any kind of consistency whatsoever. I think there is hope as long as there are Pagan QTs though.

A weird video on KZbin caught my attention just a couple of years ago. It started with Maria Franz tapping those bones together. I had never seen the like. Fast forward, the Lifa concert by HEILUNG (German for healing) is my favorite go to in the medicine space. To others seeking…find that music that resonates and explore it in different states of mind. Excellent discussion on this topic! I think it will help clarify a number of challenges for Seekers. I'm an ex-Jehovah's Witness and when I began my Pagan journey I wasn't sure what I would find in Pagan practices. It's definitely looser and not so hyper focused on ideological conformity on every single point. The most refreshing part of my journey has been able to have deep spiritual conversations without going into them with a foregone conclusion. It's also a great comfort to have come to the understanding that the gods are never far away from us--neither are other spirits and our ancestors.

While I began with Wicca in the 90's after breaking out of Pentecostalism, my explorations took me to several cultures, traditions, and paths as I sought access to the Divinity I could feel within. I just recently re-ordered my altar as I noticed I was still operating on Wiccan principles, even though I moved from it long ago. Wicca, since at least the 90's, has found its way into a lot of other traditions' modern interpretations. I find myself going more in the Animistic direction, just interacting with the consciousness of things more than their physical vehicles or their symbolic representations. Sometimes I light some sage and waft the smoke around, and other times I call to the Spirit of Sage to cleanse the space, and I find that they are 2 different ways of doing the same thing for example. Doing so led me to an interaction with Freya that I did not seek, but was positive. So, as I find that "all things have a conscious Spirit" and learn how to communicate, I also find that Gods are real and (in my experience) prefer to be spoken to like you would a friend. This is where (it seems) christianity still has sway on pagan thinking, as so many pagans do the "I said the prayer and made the offering so the Gods will like it and hopefully do what I ask in return" thing and little to nothing else. It's like we're talking AT the Gods instead of TO them, and I think that's a holdover of christian thinking. We need to be living our connection to Spirit and the Gods, as beings of equally Divine potential, not just quoting it by the fire a few times a year. With a real connection to Spirit, by knowing your own, you will hear what the next right step is. You will know the Gods, not by researching them in books, but by a direct relationship that nobody can tell you is incorrect. Teachers, traditions, and texts can point us in the direction of that connection, and can tell us some of what awaits when we do, but the connection is still our responsibility to build for ourselves. At least, that's some of what I've learned so far. Take or leave as you choose.

Many people adopt other religions as a new coat of paint on the same old structure because they haven't truly left the initial mindset. If anything, modern Christianity is designed to deaden the mind and act as a replacement for spiritual thought, rather than being a source of it. I think even those who wish to remain Christians need to re-discover what that means. Deconstruct it, tear it apart, put it to the test, and then eventually you will find what you've lost.

For the Clergy section, I'd like to quote Germania by Tacitus, this sentence is talking about the kings (but hey gothis are political leaders as well) but I'm going to count it. "But even the power of the kings is not absolute or arbitrary. As for the leaders, it is their example rather than their authority that wins them special admiration- their energy, their distinction, or their presence in the front of the line." Germania 7 Historically, leadership had to prove itself among the Germanic people. So if you find a leader who has proven themselves to you, follow them (within reason, don't go culty). If not, don't follow anyone.

I’m struggled with Christianity. It never gave me happiness even as a kid, I was born into a very alternative open actually loving/accepting Christain household (except my dad being very conservative. My mom is super liberal. My mom presents to be right for my dad.). My aunt is a Christain witch, all of my mothers family members are super into spirituality and there being other Gods even though they’re Christain. They still had that christain mindset though, just modern and open. It made me feel comfortable being myself. I came out as a witch to my mom and she said “as long as you’re a Christain witch and when you look into the darkness, be sure to have smoke and draw a circle of protection.” I’ve accepted these terms for a few years yet more then ever I feel the knot of Christianity untying more and more everyday. I love the idea of religion still and seek a religion that allows me to feel happy. So far eclectic paganism, Wicca, and Norse I feel the most drawn towards. I plan to meditate, look for signs, and research into it all. Your channel has been a huge help for me! Thank you so much!!

Western Pagans tend to study European history and Hinduism to get a better understanding of how the ancients believed. Hinduism is the last remnant of any religion related to the Indo-European ones.

@@abhiramn474 It’s complicated to describe, but yes I’d say there is some overlap with Hindus and how you worship, to some degree although we don’t have the same beliefs entirely. Any serious reconstructionist pagan studies early vedism, to “fill in the gaps” so to speak for things we don’t know, as it’s a piece of the greater indo-European puzzle. But as in how we come to believe in it, I think any true believer starts from a perspective that they want to have a more naturalistic spirituality, as opposed to exoteric, anti-human nature Christian spirituality. So we look to what our ancestors did before Christianity, and seek to emulate it, and pick the embers from the ashes and try to relight the flame.

Thank you so much for this video. I, like many others, was raised in a Baptist home. Turned to witchcraft in my late teens and I still don't really have a true direction or path. I recently discovered through a DNA test I am German, and have been interested in Norse/Germanic mythology as a way to connect to my roots. But I think the hardest thing for me to let go of is all of the first hand accounts of people who experienced heaven or saw Jesus. I've listened to testimonies and read books of people who have died and went to heaven, or died and went to hell. Stories of possessions or demonic entities. Did you experience any similar issues or complicated feelings before you converted?

I have exactly the same thoughts. Finally someone else said what I have been thinking. I too have seen and heard so many accounts of people who have had near death experiences and experienced Jesus, hell, or God as Christianity understands him. It's difficult to reconcile this. Especially when you really listen to these accounts... Many of them are far to detailed and earnest to be simply made up. Many times they speak about experiencing a reality that makes ours look like a hazy dream.. I have yet to hear or read any accounts of near death experiences with Pagan concepts of any kind. I have looked and will continue to look. The only explanation I have is that we see what we believe to be true, if raised in a Christian society we see a Christian God etc.

This never was an issue for me. I just went with what I felt. Most people try to fight what they know when they’re younger, and try to justify their reasons. I've read a few books about Asatru, and I've watched videos about Norse paganism on KZbin and it's all very interesting. One thing I haven't seen anyone talk about though is why they believe in Norse paganism. I've seen a lot of information on the history of Norse paganism and some information on the gods and the basic ideas of how to practice Norse paganism, but no information on why people believe in it. Same boat. Grew up in JW family, left all of that. So difficult to detach from everything we've been brainwashed since toddler. I guess the best conclusion I came up with is you can have a certain faith, your own beliefs and understanding, without trusting any religions. I think that anything that connect myself with my own spirituality, understand and respect the world makes me a better person.

@@SquishyMochi514 I agree with you, it ain't necessary to be in a religion to have faith in something or someone. I really do believe basically all religions are a big cult, created by powerfull people to control others and divided them so they can't rebell against those in power. A comedian called George Carlin speaks about all of this with a bit of comedy. You can find them, they are called "Religion is Bullsh*t" and the other is "The 10 Commandments". It's really funny, but also true. It was great sharing this info with you.

I cane to paganism in the year of 1997. Look at a few books on witchcraft celtic and norse really to be true it was a lot of books and it cost a lot of money but after all that i just followed my heart and loved all of the wot the gods have given you and just go with it and do it your own way and love it all it a wonderful way to live and go out there and go for it dont give up its a lot of work at times but in the end you will see it all bless it be ❤

As a Pagan wannabe, I kind of see the concept of hell was inspired by Tartarus from Greek Hellenistic beliefs and the concept of heaven is inspired by Asgard from Norse Viking beliefs. To tell you the truth, when I left Christianity I was just no longer sure if there was a one true god anymore, after an old friend from an evangelical church indoctrinated me of how I should see an all-powerful and perfect deity in monotheism that I did not like, which destroyed everything that I enjoyed about it. That was the reason why I gave up going to that place, now I am just searching for a community that still accepts the notion of polytheism, which is really hard to find, especially when your in California.

I think about in a bit of an esoteric manner. I think that Source/the Universe comes to us in the manner that will best put us on the path to realize (as in actualize) our destiny, and different gods are different aspects of Source that are recognizable to us dense humans. The universe answers the deepest desires of our subconscious. For some that's Christianity, for others that's polytheism, for others it's Atheism, for others it's New Age. No matter what it's part of our journey, part of learning and gaining wisdom and grappling with our traumas and inevitable deaths. For people who crave unconditional love and reassurance, Jesus is good for them. For those who want self empowerment and want to integrate themselves within this material world in a spiritual way, Odin is good for them. For those with a lot of burdens "attachments", Buddha is probably good for them. It goes on and on. With that said, I also have a suspicion that all of these gods use us as their puppets for their own supremacy against each other, lol. Going with the flow is the point.
