Jacob. I don't think Neolithic people, the builders of large stone circles, had a religion. Rather, it is likely they had a cosmology, such is confirmed by the orientations of stone circles, dolmens, and other monuments, the later Celts/Gauls knew the same orientations.

So, Boudicca was not a 'druidess', she was a tribal leader. Brigid was not a 'druidess', she was a Goddess initially, later a Christian saint who may or may not have been a real person.

In theory, wouldn't a Norse heathen be comfortable with someone being both heathen and Christian? After all, Jesus is simply one of many available gods.

you dont get to choose to become a shaman, you are born and chosen to be one. and yes there is the good shamans and bad shamans, you have to kick out the bad ones or else you will go crazy. I hope you look in Hmong Shamans, they can give you more details.

I’ve never been a Norse pagan before but I reached out to Freya and she came to my aid. Two nights in a row I begged for Freya’s help, offering what little I have to her - and two nights in a row I wake up having received what I pleaded for… despite the odds of them happening being extremely low. As a man I certainly feel the call toward deities like Thor and Odin - but there is no denying that Freya will be the main object of my devotion. She has shown me her way and I cannot turn from the path. I thank the Goddess for answering my prayers

It sounds like Four Visions Hape may be on to something in terms of a much healthier focus: people and intended impact instead of profit. I am rooting for this focus to remain the guiding force over time and not fall victim to the common traps of popularity/too-fast-growth/power and greed. I love hearing about this effort is different and the healing it provides. So cool!

I visited York on a driving tour from Germany where I was stationed 24 years ago in October. My family (at the time) and I had the best time there. I am Wiccan; when I went into the York Dungeon (alone, Wife and little step-daughter stayed outside) they gave me the judge's wig and had me "judge the witch." Of course, this was ironic. Once again, of course, I wasn't going to let that witch not burn. "Burn the witch!" We went to the "King's Arms Pub" that night. Two days later, as we were driving West from Newcastle Upon Tyne, a huge storm blew in that ended up flooding us down in Swindon. That storm made the "pub that floods" hit it's highest mark ever. All the sheep that we had walked with at Avebury were culled as we were driving back to Germany; this was due to "mad cow" precautions. Maybe England would be better off if I didn't go back (hahaha)? Cheers.

Honestly I think many of us (not saying the majority) living i Scandinavia and Northern Europe has a lot of the things inherited trough ancestorial DNA. I myself can really feel it in my body, the urge of being in nature. The feeling before a storm etc. The feeling of how unnatural the modern ways of life is for me. A bit ”out there”, but look up genetic memory it’s a thing. When I did my DNA-test I got 100% Northern Europe (60% Sweden/Norway and 40% Finnish), so it makes extra sense for me.

A fascinating book you can look into is the book of oberon. Essentially a grimoire. A lot of it is written through the lens of Christianity after it was adopted but the subjects, spells, deities, tales, and how to interact with the deities and other spirits is celtic. So you kind of have to parse out the christian from the celtic as you go through it but it has a whole lot of fascinating cultural information.

Your mention of cider piqued my interest. The first week I discovered and wanted to be in Heathenry, I wanted to make an offering. I really love apple cider, and it was the only thing in my fridge that night. I microwaved a cup of it, took it outside (I live in the country so I am surrounded by forest) I took it to this rock that I thought looked fit for an offering. I asked Odin to guide my path in following him, and I poured the cider on the rock. I'm a very new to Heathenry, so I probably did something wrong with the offering. I hope this has helped someone's faith :)

It’s possible that the River Ouse comes from an old Celtic word for Water The Rivers Usk and Wye come from this word . The original spelling of Usk is Wysg. It is the root word in Whiskey wysg E Water if life.

As @yorkshireroamers said, the River Ouse (3:278) is pronounce 'ooze', and I'm surprised you couldn't find 'any significance to the river's name'. It's one of our commonest names for (usually large, slow-flowing) rivers... there are several River Ouses in the east of England, and it is simply derived from the word for 'udso' which meant 'water', just as our other commonest river name, Avon, is derived from the Celtic 'Afon', which simply means 'river'.
@FredScuttle456
@FredScuttle456 Күн бұрын
Correct. That's why there are several different rivers called "Avon". "Beck" is the old name for a little stream. Purbeck in Dorset was known for lots of pure streams.

I LOVE Four Visions Hape! It has been the most effective for me out of all the "brands" I have tried. It is clear to me that there is so much intention and sacredness put into their products. There is so much truth in the gaining of wisdom through spiritual journeys, but for those journeys to be connected and sacred we MUST heal ourselves FIRST. I am finding that the transmission of wisdom of my power animals and ancestors has become so much more in focus as I heal Mind/Body/and Spirit. I also have more effective communications with the Gods. Walking away from the Western intention for manifestation (greed, selfishness, consumption, and constant revolving debt, fear of scarcity, etc.) and reawakening a connection with the Earth and Universe has been thee best decision I have made! Thank you for this amazing conversation!

Honestly, when I left Christianity for another religion, I felt so lost. I studied and studied until I found my truth. I have many friends who are pagan, Wiccan, witches, etc. And honestly, they are some of the nicest people I've known.
