Grats! Hopefully you get a good 3-5 years off that build before having to upgrade.

Same, got also almost everything I need. Just waiting on a CPU I ordered (R5 7500f) and the GPU will be a RX 8800xt just waiting on them to come out next month or February. What finally put me over to PC gaming was the announcement of the PS5 pro. Been a PS guy since the PS1 days but I think Sony are just losing their way and the value for money just isn’t there compared to a decent spec’d PC you can upgrade at your own pace. In my region all in for the PS5 pro + disk drive + stand it’s almost €1000. I’d rather build a PC for that money.

I recommend learning about mklinks. I've been gaming on PC for a long time and learned about mklinks way late. Mklinks are like windows shortcut but better. It's a great way to keep your PC clean and not have duplicated files taking up storage space. Meaning, if you have a game that's like 200GB and you don't want that game on your PC hard drive. That's too much storage. You can use a separate hard drive and make windows think it's on your main hard drive. Meaning this PC thinks your 2 hard drives is one hard. Windows will think the game is on C drive which it actually isn't. Plus you gain the read and write speed from your main hard drive. Mklinks are a great way to keep your PC clean and not eat up all the storage on the main hard drive.

One more benefit of PC, at least if you got a desktop, is that you're not stuck with the hardware. You can enjoy saving some money on a budget PC now, have your fun, then upgrade whatever you want down the line when you got the funds. The graphics card is one of the easiest parts to replace. You don't have to take anything else out (in most desktops), just pull out the old one and slot in the new one, but the difference you get in performance is like morphing the PC into a completely different machine. Those new 5000 series Nvidia cards are about to come out. You throw an RTX 5070 into that budget PC, it ain't playing like a budget PC anymore.
@PuddingTaToRnAtOr8 күн бұрын
The price of that card will be nearly the same price of a used console. You used WAYYYY to many words to essentially say nothing and still managed to be wrong… the jump from 3060-4060 was 10-20 fps and In some cases got less fps. it’s not a whole new machine as games will still look exactly the same as they did on the older card… and that’s assuming you won’t have to swap the motherboard. I'm used to the days of having to overclock cpu/gpu so I've never done an undervolt in my life. I can relate, I went back and forth pc to console to pc, childhood started gaming on pc. Vram I agree, when I went back my 2013 PC had integrated graphics that was painful, then it's successor had 3gb vram the 1060 3gb prebuilt, kept going up from there 3060 12gb, creeped up to 4090 tried some midrange (7800XT & 7900XTX pretty great at D4 1440P). Fan replacement is cheap/easy, nvme/ram also easy my first fans dying were around 2016 had to open it up. 1080P will last longer going 1440P in 2019 I ended up with upgrade creep, also raiding pushed my CPU and GPU to a lesser extent but both felt important to change to get a smooth experience (FSR was a stopgap). Fans have Corsair, Thermalright, and Arctic ones. I miss AMD adrenalin a bit mostly switched to gamer distros Nobara and Bazzite on my secondary machine, still have a 1070 rig on 10 LTSC might use for a Discord streaming reward I was having issues with. For Windows I feel the LTSC are more stable. Steam really has been amazing though at streamlining things for me. I still haven't finished WoW (alts) & BG3 though I also play D4 from time to time, they had the new xpac as a free trial recently, which seemed okay. Certainly the vram can be important as it will spill into slower system ram or crash without enough. Nothing worse than a 1FPS slideshow if that happens, super painful experience.

Hey Doc, is your PC shutting down normally, or is it abruptly losing power without showing a shutdown screen? If it’s the latter, it’s likely a power supply issue. I see so much misinformation in this comment section its kind of crazy, whether you play on a console or a pc, each platform comes with a set of purposes. A PC that is stronger than a PS5 pro is not that expensive if you know what you are looking for and you are willing to build it yourself. It's okay if you just want plug and play out of your gaming and it's okay if you want complete control over your experience. A PC is not just about gaming, its about a personalized experience in general where you can get graphics that are way above a console or maybe a little bit worse. A PS5 pro is about the performance of an RX 6800 if anyone is interested in learning where to look for a comparable gpu. Another topic that I see is the noise and power consumption, only the top graphics card will consume more than a PS5 usually the mid range consumes very little. And the noise is completely dependent on your setup. Another aspect is the access to all the games ever made for PC and emulated consoles, you can play almost anything you want on PC and experience retro games with insane quality. PC is not without issues of course but if you have even a tiny bit of curiosity I genuinely believe you should try it. Happy gaming for all.

I get you have to start somewhere and don’t want to invest a lot of $$ in something you are not sure of. What tends to happen with these type of buyers is they realize very quickly 1. Your pc system runs worst than your console and 2. Your pc is insanely gimped😂 compared to what you seen your favorite streamer running. If you realize too late you miss your time to return the system and you get to a point you want a more powerful system and have to buy a whole new system because the parts on the budget system are not great to use on your new system.

And depending on your hardware, you aren't sure if you can play the games you want to play. On console, you know 100% that things will work and games will run. But pc gaming is better objectively. @@caliginousmoira8565 I think what is midrange has shifted up especially this recent gen. I would consider 60 class to be lower high end budget, with 3050/similar being in the esports/destitute tier. I consider the 4070 and my 7800XT to be midrange, perhaps an upper midrange or a decently long lasting gpu depending on the titles, though with the 7900GRE/7900XT might be upper midrange. 6800 might be a middle midrange close to 7800 performance. 7900XTX upper highend 700-1K would put 4080S here too, 4090 top of the high end (it hasn't given me a reason to swap it out for as long as I've had it, been energy efficient feeling and stable, I don't notice the heat as I did with the 7900XTX. The 24gb of vram will give the 7900XTX lasting relevance, it's only weakness being RT forced games/being slightly behind in RT, I actually don't like RT and prefer rasterization. Would just mostly avoid Snowdrop engine games like Avatar, was really happy with the 7900XTX otherwise. There is also office pc tier gpus like the dell oem ones PS era performance or a 1030 that aren't really meant for gaming in modern titles but might be okay for really old/niche use cases, would put that in the very destitute but maybe better than integrated graphics tier at the bottom. I think HD7950 was an example around that era. Think that covers the GPU gamut mostly would still consider a 6700XT a decent entry level gaming GPU. Usually they skimp on the lower end GPUs vram my first prebuilt had the 1060 3gb in 2016 and oh that did not hold up well raiding over time it really didn't, replaced in 2019 with 3060 12gb would also consider a low midrange but the vram has lasted well it just shows its age at 1440P unless you're playing Overwatch it was great at that (not tested Overwatch 2 on it but am sure that's fine also).

No it isnt, you can run older titles at 4k, it all depends on what game you are running. thats the whole point of the options menu. you may not know this but some games are more demanding than others.

@@youngkermitcnt1111 yes new games might have more limitations. But PC also offers various settings so one can tune the game to their liking (of course within hardware capabilities). It also pends on what one is playing, as less demanding titles will of course reach higher resolutions and/or frame rates. The important thing is to do some research prior to purchase, there are some which will be fine with mini pc using AMD APUs connected to 1080p tv or monitor, but some others have higher expectations and to meet them they will have to spent more money. So what I’m saying is customers buying PCs should do due diligence on what they want, taking into account the budget also what they might get for the price they are willing to pay.

Ram is not only important for current fps, but also for being able to play new games which become more ram hungry. Over the years gpus will need to adapt to gamers wanting better graphics which means that more assets will be loaded into the ram. So if you buy a current gpu with a rather low amount of ram you may only be limited by a few fps, but down the road the gpu will not be able to process the asset quickly enough even if the processing unit is able to.

@@caliginousmoira8565 Possibly, It depends. Are you playing games that are CPU intensive? If you have a modern CPU (7500F/X3D/12th gen have owned the 12700KF & 12900KF personally). But if you had to pick would likely put the money budget into the GPU, as long as you have a modern CPU. There are more L3 cache on the higher end tier of products i7/i9/r7/r9 then the middle ones, we have a 12400F for office but that might be a fine budget pick too. AM5 would have an upgrade path but if building would look at the total cost for the platform, figuring in 3-5 years you might upgrade it anyways or replace the CPU/Mobo &/ram if the platform is a deadend one (now that LGA1700 is dead-end but still better at gaming then the new Intel ones lol). Build what you can afford but it is also a bit easier to GPU swap (DDU/fresh install if issues) then taking off a cooler to CPU swap though neither are hard, would get a 20-40 air cooler ID Cooling/Thermalright PA120/PS/FS are some I like to use a lot.
