From Costco to our home in remote Alaska

Jared and I spend over a month away with his family for the holidays. Now that we are back in Alaska, it's time for a little restock from Costco. This videos is really cool for two reasons...the first being that you get to see the whole process from us shopping at Costco to packaging it at the air taxi to us flying home...on a beautiful day too!! The second...well, it's at the very end of the video :)
Thank you for following along and interacting! I plan on doing more consistent videos in 2024, and really try to stay consistent with it too :) One of my goals for 2024.

Those Costco prices weren’t that bad. I expected them to be much higher in anchorage. That’s awesome you got all that fresh fruit in the winter. Best wishes in 2024

SUGGESTION when you buy bread, produce, and dairy check the dates. You seem to grab whatever is in front of you but can have a sell by or ship date that varies by a week or a month bc its common practice of rotation, older up front, newer in the back. Yes items are good after the sell by date but if you dig to the back of the bread, back of the salads, and eggs to name a few, you will see the difference in dates. With fruit you will see a picked or pack date on the package or case. It can vary especially bc shipping time takes longer to get to Alaska so get the most recent packed on date. Good luck.

Here my mom and i thought it was hard not having a way to go get our groceries ourselves. We have to beg for drives or pay for delivery from Walmart. After seeing this, i realize we are lucky to be able to do that.

Oh my gosh! The air taxi flight home was amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your life with us. It was almost like being right there on the plane. I got a little teary eyed... Silly, but I've never flown & the snow covered scenery there is breathtaking. That music was perfect! Love seeing the drive to the air taxi with all the snow is beautiful.

Fairbanks was the closest place for groceries when I lived in Alaska, I loved the ice fog! I miss the winter peacefulness when all you could hear were sounds that birds or animals would make. No machine noise or disruption. I envy you guys!! Love the videos!!

@@juliahaynie764 I was in Delta for a couple of years around 2005. Still visit the area on occasion. Love it in Alaska, especially the less traveled areas. Enjoy the gorgeous ice fog, and drive safely! I remember that Fairbanks would have such ice buildup at the stoplights during winter…watched lots of newbies slide through the intersections. Truly miss the area! In all seasons!!

I’ve lived it many years in Wasilla and now I live in anchorage. Your shopping trip showed me more of beauty of Alaska which I must share with a lot of people. Our leaders can’t fix our budget even by taking half the permanent fund. The roads are still unkempt I’m 76 years old when I was younger the roads were always cleared and sanded so nice immediately I wish we could get a better government. The roads are so dangerous. You are the sweetest little lady in the world. Thank you for these.😅

I just found your channel 30 minutes ago. I absolutely love the scenery of the amazingly beautiful state of Alaska (even in winter). We moved to Eastern Arizona just a little over 2 years ago. I love the cooler weather we have. It got down to -7° this winter, it's nothing nothing like have there, but it sure beats the 118° in the PHX valley during the summers. Yeah, Costco, must have made a good deal with what ever shipping company they use for those prices to be that low. I know the Costco in Iceland sells out in a day when ever they restock since everything has to be shipped in.

Wow,so much work just to get groceries home!!! I'm not going to fuss about my 2 miles away from my town, to get anything! The prices ,are very expensive, but not as bad as they probably could be!!!I live in East Tennessee, so the weather is usually awesome! But the pictures from your plane, beautiful!!!! The snow in the trees is beautiful, that you see it all the time and can still admire it is lovely. Groceries are a big expense for most of us, and I hope income there reflects that, but having to have an air taxi home is unique. Certainly adds to the total. Thanks for sharing your trip. 😊
