The Team House

Күн бұрын

Dale Comstock was the youngest operator in Delta Force when he joined from the 82nd Airborne and was the master breacher on the military's first successful hostage rescue mission, Operation Acid Gambit which rescued Kurt Muse from the clutches of Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega. Comstock's adventures didn't end when he retired from the Army just before 9/11. He went on the serve as a paramilitary contractor in Afghanistan and then went on to become a mercenary in places like Yemen. On this episode we're going to focus on Dale's post Army life as a security contractor, mercenary, and bodyguard.

Dale really does have a good heart, he's tough to the bad guys and kind to the good guys, I think that's part of what makes him so interesting. I think it says a lot about the US that the tough/kind combination is how most of our Operators are wired. All of the Tier 1 guys I've seen on podcasts had that combination going on. They're actually pretty humble about how badass they are. They're at a level far above Tier 2 but they never "punch down" at us or the regular guys.

Love your channel. Nothing but respect for SOF volunteers. But one thing he says in this is that these “normal” army dudes were living in the dirt no WiFi nothing fighting every day for 12 months - I’d love some more coverage on the “normal” army units that occupied space and lived in the dirt. There are a LOT of them and the story doesn’t get told with as much gusto as the “special” guys and gals you interview. Not a critique, not meant for disrespect, just hoping for some coverage. Thanks 🇺🇸

I waa regular Army and then SOF. The regular military is 100% overlooked then it comes to special operations which bothered me for a while. But then I realized nobody wanted to hear about how much janitor action of sweeping, mopping, and cleaning bathrooms you do in the regular army so nobody cares. Even the most boring SOF career is more exciting than 99.9% of the regular Army something my old Sergeant Major used to say and he was right.

That first story reminded me of my 06-07 Iraq deployment. We were a small airborne infantry Delta company(3 20 man platoons) and lived on a combat outpost with no electricity or running water. Every day we were getting into some shit. Patrol all day, run ambushes all night. About 10 months in we got stop lossed and did 15 straight months. My unit lost 53 men KIA that deployment, and at least triple that wounded. For nothing. GERONIMO! Edit: I will clarify that “my unit” is referring to my brigade, considering we almost always deploy as a brigade combat team, not a platoon. Common sense. The 4th BCT(Airborne) 25th ID suffered heavy casualties in our 06-07 deployment, hence the 53 KIA, and who knows how many times wounded. All easily verifiable with the magic google machine.

1:22:00 that story there, we had a guy like that in my unit in the Marines, he was a SGT. He took 3 new boots to his house, got them drunk...when they passed out, he slipped pants down and got to suckin. One of them woke up while he was doing it and socked him in the eye, woke the other 2 up and they ran out of his house. He got told on, battalion NJP in front of everybody and they put him out, he still had a black eye when he was standing at attention in front of everybody. I think Dale has a story all veterans can relate to on some level, and many that a lot of us can't even fathom. Very cool and interesting guy, thanks for doing this interview.

Awesome interview...thanks Dale for everything. I put you guys on to my schoolmate from The Citadel, Bazzel Baz and he shared his great story. You should interview Baz's classmate from The Citadel (1978), US Army LtGen Daniel Bolger. Dan wrote the book "WHY WE LOST" about the war in Afghanistan. Last I heard, Dan was teaching Military History at North Carolina State University. After Dan, you should interview another graduate of The Citadel (1979), General Frank McKenzie. Frank was the Commander of Central Commander when President Biden commanded him to "pack up and leave Afghanistan". Then, you should interview Major General Richard "Dick" Lake, another graduate of The Citadel (1977) who was the Director of Intelligence for the US Marine Corps and who also spent many years at the CIA. Dick was head of security for Bill Gates after he retired.
