A garden must be appreciated through time too. There isn't a single point in time where you can sit in a garden and see all of the beauty it holds. There's always something dormant, always something waiting to take advantage of *next* week when no one else is being beautiful in that time. So to take it all in, you have to spend more than one visit.

With this video you have changed my mind....let me explain. Last year I planted my first garden. It was small but beautiful and I could hardly believe how much this little garden help our food budget. This winter I have spent almost all my time planning and planting for a new garden that would overtake our back yard. I told my husband that eventually I would like to have all of our property plated out in edible plants and flowers. This week, in fact, I told him....I'm not sure I want to plant out the front yard....maybe we should leave it as grass. Then I saw this video...I really want to plant out the front yard...It is my south facing yard....and I want to do it NOW! All of your videos are inspiring but this one is Magical!

Yes! This is how I've started. My front garden is where the edible growing is at. I started pretty small (and unsucessfully) 4 years ago with tomatos. This year I have x7 small raised beds of edibles with a perimeter of bee friendly flowering plants. I'm working with the no dig method to avoid disturbing the integrity of the earth, I have learnt a lot already this year and have kept logs and photos so I can keep improving year on year.

" Even a bit wild". I really like that, that gives me hope, because my lawn really looks a bit wild right now, just started growing mixed plants after moving in new place these 3 months. My nursery was so messy in the beginning. Did the no tilling, covering weed in the lawn with cardboard box sheets and dried leaves from the residential area trees (the local administration removes dead leaves regularly, thus free stuff with close to zero effort!)

@suburban homestead: I think so too, but I find many (if not most) people don't have that connection to nature and simple living anymore, which is a shame. From people I know from the city where I used to live, I often get the question "is gardening worth it?", and what they invariably mean is, is it financially worth it. That's a question I never ask myself or keep a tally of because gardening gives me more than money could ever buy, and I can't imagine doing anything else ever again. They seem to have a hard time understanding that or relating to why I'd invest so much time and energy into something that, in their eyes, is only "worthwhile" if it's financially lucrative.
@suburbanhomestead

Very true, my friend. I want to awaken in people the idea that gardening provides way more than food. Unfortunately we tend to structure our lives and activities only around financially feasible ones. While that is important, it shouldn't be the deciding factor.

It is hard for me to put in words what the work is that I do.🐌🐌 I am planning a LONG term garden that gives back for generations to come.🌾⚘ Just like the land we bought. It had a basic beginning 🍎🍏🍐🍇started by another planted heart. At any rate, Great videos ! Yes to reuse, patient care understanding of life needs and love of all that surrounds us! 🌺❤🧡💛🌻🌷⚘🍀🍀

Love love love your work in the gardening and your videos. I started buying fruit trees last year and everything was in ugly buckets and cut up 50 gallon containers. This year things are liking more organic, nowhere near yours but it's feeling more like me. Blueberry bushes, aronia, peach, apricot, cherry and apple trees (lot of dwarfs) and even though I have kids I still feel like a proud mama watching all this grow too. Worm hotel too...lol...can't forget my little wrigglers.

I LOve to get stoned while hanging with sun in my garden. I have been working on it for the years now i live in the city so its a great getaway.I always let red clover grow between my long onions the bees cant get enough of them.I love when nature come in a fills in the blank spaces in summer and winter. i dont have to do a thing. Nature does it for me.i only had to water twice last year.It is so magical.haha I really enjoyed your videos and your garden ..

Beautiful. My garden, where _I_ have arrived, is not my garden, but is a crowded forest waiting to be cultivated into a thriving polyculture. Thanks for sharing, Siloé.

Hi Siloe, I just stumbled on your channel a few days ago and already watched quite a few videos! I loved your idea of showing how to grow a crop and then showing how to cook a recipe using what you harvested! Keep them coming!

Pretty! Love your painting too! When I had space for a vege patch, I made a no dig garden and mixed up all the vegetables and flowers. That way I made a wee micro environment that looked after itself. I live in Australia and I put pvc piping, hidden, in the garden and the blue tongue lizards would hide there and eat the snails. Sort of a similar idea to yours. I couldn’t imagine sharing with ground hogs! But we do have feral rabbits, dear and kangaroos that eat gardens, depending on where you live. Enjoy your videos, thank you ❤️
