Thank you Brian for being so candid about your previous life. People should understand that we all make mistakes and that they dont define us. We just need to press on and forwards!

I have listened to a lot of interviews about Software Engineering careers. And this man has the most interesting and educational one in the practical sense.

Totally agree. We need to make rehabilitation easier in this country. Not only is that good from a human perspective as many criminals are intelligent and have a lot of capability to contribute to society. But also, if people get to hear more stories like this, it can potentially change how people view their own life and their own trajectory creating a positive feedback loop. Personally, I think once you do your time unless it is a sexual crime like rape or child molestation, it should not be on your record at all when it comes to applying to jobs. Yes, there will be some bad stories that come out of that, But on the societal level it is definitely worth trying considering the rates of recidivism which implies additional victims

Great guest - thank you for having Brian on Rahul!
@Neonb882 ай бұрын
Rahul had an awesome point at 30:00. Even at work when they're already in a good spot to take on more responsibility, learn more, become indispensable, and eventually get promoted, people often don't volunteer enough; they have the opposite mindset from what Bryan and you suggested. I could also do better at this. Stay till 6 or 7 on weekdays, do work on weekend mornings like Bryan suggested, whatever you have to do to get where you wanna go :)

No, I won't lie. It's impossible if you aren't a minority woman ( not indian/asian). Get some experience in a known start up, then I don't think your degree will matter at all.

Criminal cases don't disqualify you from a job, But any prospective employer will see them. So it was probably a combination of the employer. Was willing to take the chance on him, and he had a compelling story about how he has changed in a new person.

Hello brother, I am currently enrolled in the IIT Madras online 'BS in Data Science and Applications' programme. Could you provide insights on key areas in Data Science, AI, and ML to focus on, additional skills to acquire, and effective resources? Additionally, how do online programs from MIT, Harvard, and Stanford compare in terms of practicality and industry relevance? If you don't to make a video then atleast suggest me fe things. Suggest some Best online resources. I really want to grow as much as possible

@ethan40912 ай бұрын
@@lillyinthefield2787 what lol just go outside and make friends with similar interests you to and you will be given opportunities. You really do not have to "scratch and claw and pushover over others" to get good jobs. Im speaking from experience when i graduated i realized the friends i made in uni were like the "cool" people, i felt i was too cool to hangout with other comp sci majors and that led me to be without a good job for a year until i started actually going to events with people actually interested in tech and i made friends. Eventually one of those many friends i made referred me to this European company and i got hired and even got to stay in my home country so i want from barely being able to live day to day to being rich asf in my country so yeah regular people can always win.
@xaviernogueira2 ай бұрын
@@lillyinthefield2787so what do you expect? Society will just notice your greatness and give you money and a good job? That's simply unrealistic. It's just a bunch of humans doing things. Make connections. Make friends help people out and they'll help you out. Meet people not to get something from them but to enjoy their company and add value to their life. Promise you if you do this with people in your field, you will end up having a job in no time. This is what I did. I have no family connections, no computer science degree, no man on the inside, But I just went to a whole bunch of events in hackathons and things worked on open source projects, got my name out there and was found by multiple recruiters.
