One of two theories.
@zimvader25Күн бұрын
@@wesleyrodgers886the only accurate one of the theories. It’s part of the classic lore and how it works in the novel that this movie is based on. Krampus doesn’t trap families in snow globes anymore than Santa Claus does. It’s just how he keeps an eye on people. Just like Santa does in certaim cultures. Stop believing everything you read on reddit just because you think it sounds cool.
@jessetorres87382 күн бұрын
The way I interpret the ending is that Krampus traps families who have lost the Christmas spirit together inside his glass ornaments until they have gained it back. We see throughout the film the family argue with each other & they don't appreciate being together during the holidays, so they like many other families are trapped inside the house at Christmas being watched by Krampus for as long as he feels they need to be.

Krampus is a character in C European folklore who punishes kids each December.

My family and I have always spent our winter holidays in the mountains. That's where the Krampus stories come from. In the evening when the sun goes down early, people dressed up as elves and Krampus roam the streets. It was very scary as a child. If you look to Central Europe, Krampus stories pop up in southern Germany and Austria. Other similar monstrous creatures pop up all over in old lore. Mostly in late winter early spring to drive away the winter spirits.

On the audio commentary for Krampus the naughty cut basically the directors cut. Michael Dougherty says that was done on purpose because the only 3 consten things. In Krampus lore when it comes to how he looks is he has horns a long tongue an goat feet. Thats it everything else is different from person to person. So he didn't want to be the one to give Krampus a official look. Like what happened to Santa Claus when coke put him in their commercials. So by hiding his face behind a mask made out of someones face. Anyone's description of Krampus is the right one. Case in point in the movie the elfs faces are all actually other people's. Description of Krampus that the people he sent to the real Krampus Festival to. Get as much information an lore as possible for Krampus before he made the movie. So its a cool look but it actually serves a important purpose. Also in the end of the movie in the end credits. Those post cards you see are actually real Krampus post cards. That those people brought back from the Krampus Festival.

In other areas of Germany, "Krampus" (in Bavaria) is known as "Knecht Rubrecht", "Hans Muff" or other names and is depicted not as a monster, but as a man in a brown or black coat - similar to a monk's habit! He is the companion of “Saint Nicholas” - while “Nicholas” rewards good children with gifts, “Krampus” (“Knecht Rubrecht”) symbolically indicates that he puts the naughty children in a sack to punish them! The film has NOTHING to do with these St. Nicholas customs (December 6th/“St. Nicholas Day”) and mistakenly makes “Krampus” a bloodthirsty horror figure who gets up to mischief on CHRISTMAS!!! At least the grandmother speaks perfect German, even with an Austrian accent - NO terrible pseudo-German chatter!

Here in Austria we celebrate Krampus Night every year. It's an important part of folklore. The Krampus also appears in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Northern Italy, Slovakia, Slovenia and southern Germany. Unfortunately, this movie is wrong and misleading in many aspects. The most prominent: the Krampus doesn't come on Christmas Eve but on the 5th of December and on the 6th when he accompanies his master, St. Nicholas, on St. Nicholas Day. P.S.: Krista Stadler, who plays Omi (=Granny), is a reknown Austrian actress. 🙂

Dasha, the Engels (the family) were spared, Krampus gave them a second chance. So they’re not trapped in the snow globe, he’s just monitoring them through the snow globe.

Since I first watched the move in the theater I had always thought the ending meant they were trapped there. Being spared is a better and happier ending, just not well executed, I think.

That is your opinion. Many others believe they are trapped for their wicked ways BUT Krampus is letting them have his wish of a perfect christmas over and over again.

There's a tie in comic 2 this movie Krampus: Shadow of Saint Nicholas that pretty much confirms the movie's ending, Krampus will punish u till you've learned your lesson then rewinds things back before it showed up but will drop a reminder that it wasn't just a dream and will still be watching.

There are two different theories about the ending. Theory #1: They're all trapped in the snowglobe, doomed to spend eternity celebrating Christmas together. Theory #2: Krampus gave them a second chance, but the snowglobe is his way of watching over them to make sure they don't go back to their old ways.
@zimvader25Күн бұрын
There are no theories. Even the director once said he probably should’ve added kids playing in the snow outside to make it obvious that he was just watching them through the globe. It wasn’t until afterwards when he changed to “it’s open to interpretation” because people wouldn’t stop asking and rather than keep admitting he messed up by giving people too much credit, he just decided to make them feel better. But in the novel that this movie is based on, and classic lore of Krampus, he just keeps an eye on people just like Santa Claus does.
@lurkerrekrulКүн бұрын
@@zimvader25 I don't think it's a matter of giving viewers too much credit. Krampus took the mother's family away and she never saw them again. Then we see him taking these people away. The logical assumption is that once he takes people, they're gone forever. And since it's a horror movie, seeing them imprisoned together in a snowglobe makes perfect sense, especially considering that true happy endings for horror movies are rare these days. It's pretty much obligatory for the killer/monster/evil to win in the end. It's what people have been conditioned to expect. So with no other evidence that that they've been returned to their normal lives, most viewers just assumed the worst for them.
@midnighttoker926819 сағат бұрын
@@lurkerrekrul Not only that but the lighting in the last scene suggests that theory number one is the correct one, they are no longer in our reality.
