Hi! Really great tips! I've encountered another really interesting topic, I was playing with some of the pros, and what astonished me, is how the pros watch the ball really different, as if from another universe. They were staring inside it's soul, it's incredible. Anyway, Patrick Mouratoglou was talking about right-eye dominance and left-eye dominance, and how people with a certain eye dominance should stick to different stances on the serve/forehand/backhand and keep their head little different to see the ball better... Sooo, can you please elaborate on something like this? It is too much to handle for anyone, but you seem to explain things with such an ease, it's incredible!

Btw, I'm not near pro, but I hit with 7 of them, UTR 11-14

Thanks coach! Could you elaborate on the kick serve that not only penetrates the court, but also jumps high and outta the strike zone ala alcaraz? Also the same kinda video you made here, except all the little details for the slice serve would be awesome 😅 I’ve been hitting the penetrating kick and sometimes I fluke the one that kicks away from my opponent, now I know why but I’ve always struggled on getting the ball outta their strike zone
@ironwilltennis Жыл бұрын
One thing that could help with that is using your legs to drive your body forward into the court while still keeping to the side kicking technique. This should give you some driving force but still preserve the angle of the bounce
@jasonwong5919 Жыл бұрын
@@ironwilltennis I’ve been experimenting with using legs/arm/shoulder to make spin and flexion of the trunk to drive the ball thru the court. I hope that makes sense

Nice video gain Will. I had one question: there is a debate about what kind of "continental" grip is to be used for volleys and the serve. It seems that you are more on the bevel 2.5 team / aka chopper grip than the camp that says to strictly put the first knuckle and heelpad on bevel 2. Do you think you can get just as much spin using the 2.5? Is that what you are indeed using?
@ironwilltennis Жыл бұрын
The subtle adjustments are more for comfort in my opinion. I can do both with minimal change to spin potential. I could possibly generate a slightly better angle at most but the average recreational player won't see that much difference
@at1838 Жыл бұрын
@@ironwilltennis Thanks for the reply. I feel that the chopper/2.5 gets a bit more power on flat and slice serves; so that's what I've been experimenting with lately. But the better a server I become the more it becomes clear that placement really is the name of the game--not to mention that it's a tremendous confidence boost to get the serve to go where you want it with the "action" you want on it.
@robinhuang4773 Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Will. Can I ask is there any difference to the toss for the two kinds of kicks? The into the body you need to toss more in front?
@ironwilltennis Жыл бұрын
The toss to kick it into the person can be a little more in front to assist but it's not inherently needed

How about kick serve mechanics on deuce side.. (righty).. should the top kick... break to right ( viewing from righty)..
@phillai9930 Жыл бұрын
Will, should we initiate our weight on the back foot to push up to serve, especially for platform stance or push up from the front foot ? Thanks
@ironwilltennis Жыл бұрын
Actually both, the back leg propels you into the court while the front gives you the height upwards as well as a rotation axis to pivot on

I have trouble with the kick serve, making it break out to the right (the kick part). For the penetrating topspin serve, I get good spin, and the ball gets a good, high jump off the bounce. I’ve always heard to swing up the back of the ball from 8 to 2 (across the face of the clock) to make it kick, but it doesn’t work for me. You’re saying to literally hit the up the left side of the ball? I’ve never tried that, but I’ll start practicing this and see if I can get the feel for it. Is this right?
@ironwilltennis Жыл бұрын
Yea strike the left and push up and right you'll be behind the ball a little but mostly on the side

Hi coach. I was practicing this today and it went well hitting the side of the ball. But went I hit the "back" of the ball, it went long must of the time. Any advice?
@ironwilltennis Жыл бұрын
Most common issue is possibly launching your body into the court to much. If you can get the feeling correct when you go sideways tge it's most likely a body shift

@ironwilltennis, just started following you a couple of weeks ago and already using your tips in my game 😊 I have a question about your racket. I see you’re using the V Core 98 2021 and see you’ve added weight at 10 and 2 what looks like the Tourna power strips? How many of those do you use? Is that the extent of your customisation? Thinking of switching to the 2021 V Core 98 as I’m currently using the V Core Pro 97 2021 and don’t hold much hope for the new V Core Pro suiting my game. I used to have a killer 1HBH, but the V Core Pro 97 310g has made that non-existent. Apologies this is not a kick serve related question 🫤
