I have many band recordings. Sousa,Gilmore,Pryor,Vessella Italian etc. They range from 1897 to the late '20s all on original 78 rpm discs. They were quite popular back then. I wish that I could have heard them live at band concerts.

$125 for the book. Why so expensive? I thought it would be great to have it along with BANDS OF AMERICA by Schwarz but the price is like rent "too damn high".

The price was set by the publisher. I would have preferred a lower cost, for potential buyers such as yourself, as well as a number of friends of mine, but I had no say in that (nor was there any remuneration for contributors, beyond a complimentary copy of the book, if that helps to know). It is not uncommon, however, for academic books to be quite costly. But at least some fresh research on "Bands in American Musical History" is available through music libraries - and this video summary of my chapter!
