In a broad discussion overviewing the realignment of Republican Party affiliated voters to nationalism as a political ideology, Dr. Brandon M. Chapman (Instructor and Department Chair of Anthropology and Sociology - Rowan College at Burlington County) begins with defining what is nationalism and demographic and social trends over the preceding thirty years in the U.S. that have led to this shift in political beliefs in his talk titled “From Hatred to Conspiracy: Political Opinions and Beliefs Among U.S. Nationalist Voters”. From there, he starts to provide some of his own research findings on nationalist voters and the foundations of their opinions on U.S. politics and governance. He ends with answering audience questions on a range of topics regarding anti-Semitism and its relation to these nationalist beliefs and other contributing factors to the continuing political shifts in the U.S.
Hosted by Temple Sinai of Cinnaminson’s Social Action Committee as part of their speaker series on White Nationalism. Recorded on May 25, 2021.
