I am so excited to share my friend Janey's garden journey from Dig, Plant, Water, Repeat. She started a hobby gardener and quickly became a master gardener! Janey shares the challenges and successes in her garden journey and what brings her the most joy about gardening. We also dig into Proven Winner annuals that I am very excited to plant in my garden this year! 💞

Love these series of interviews, Claudia. Who better than Kate & Janey to begin with. You all are such enthusiastic people/gardeners that I can't wait to get in the garden when the snow goes. Inspiring! TFS.

Thank you Wendy, I knew whenI started this series it had to be with them first, it just felt right. I'm excited for all our gardens this year. 💞 Also remind me where you are, you mentioned you have snow?
@wendyshanahan26522 күн бұрын
@@InTheGardenWithClaudia Hi Claudia, yes I have snow. I'm in southern Ontario, Canada. We also have had an Arctic blast this week, so I have reviewed some of your garden tours from last year. TFS them.

This was so fun, Claudia. I am a Master Gardener too but I think the most important thing is to jump in, kill some plants but enjoy the hobby. You will kill plants but it’s a learning experience. These interviews are great. You & Janey are so encouraging! Thanks!

I completely agree Rhonda, nothing beats experience. For me I also learn the best by doing things myself. 🥰

I really like these formats ,so nice to get to know more about other gardeners especially when not much going on in the garden world in most areas.🌿🌱I was surprised about vegetables,because I see so much beauty in them ,but I believe everyone should do what makes them Happy. 💚🌿🌱

Thank you Claudia for a great interview. I’ve been following Janey for years. I’m so glad to finally hear her talk about the flower field. I had always wondered what happened to that project. Still snow here, but I’m going to start some winter sowing today. 🇨🇦

I loved this video. Flowers definitely feed my soul. Every spring when my flowers return from being asleep I feel like my friends have returned. I’m in Houston Texas zone 9 and I can say you have to be tough to keep gardening here but I love flowers so much.

Interesting video. I have watched Janie from the very beginning. I just recently found your channel. I live in Michigan, 40 minutes from Carleton MI, proven winners home. Although I’m able to find proven winner plants everywhere that sells plants, of which I’m thankful, I do have cold snowy winters. No gardening so therefore I watch A LOT of gardening videos. I am able to do winter sowing which ignites me for the upcoming growing season. Keep up the informative videos, they help me get through our non growing season. One thing I see as a positive to “winter” is that it allows me to stop and reflect upon what I want to do in the coming season. I’m in my early 80’s and although it’s HARDER to do a lot of things I’m not shy in asking grandchildren to come and help with the heavy stuff. Never give up on gardening, it’s good for the body and soul.

Awww Mary, thank you for being here and watching out videos, it means everything to us and we are happy we can provide a little gardening magic in everyones days who cant garden this time of year. I'm jealous you have so much access to Proven Winner plants, I will continue advocating for getting more of their annuals here, I really am eager to add a lot of it in our landscape this year. I loved gardening with my grandma, I'm so happy you can involve your grandchildren in your garden, that is very special. 🥰

This video was super fun to watch. 2 of my favorite you tubers laughing and sharing garden knowledge. I especially loved Janey’s comment on being a weed that is everywhere and can’t be gotten rid of. Great questions. You have become a great inspiration to us west coast gardeners. I’m in zone 9b like Janey. Do you have a recommendation on a red bud tree that could tolerate my 100+ degree summers and would it have to be in shade?
@InTheGardenWithClaudia2 күн бұрын
Thank you so much Koni, that means so much to me. I love that I can inspire west coast gardeners. For your redbud questions there are three that I think would work: Forest Pansy Redbud, the Eastern Redbud, and the Oklahoma Redbud. Out of these three, I would go with the Forest Pansy Redbud - I like the coloring on this one the most. 💞

Aww thank you friend, I'm so happy you are here. I agree, it's so easy to become best friends with those two, we have so much fun together. I'm so excited to get my hands on PW plants this year, I want to add so much color to our landscape, I cannot wait!

I LOVE you both, and love you both together. Always a good time! I learned so much as always. Gardening in GA with red clay is a pain when digging, but now I will not complain, because, hey I’ve seen Janey’s struggles with her yard. And, now after the rug story, you never know what you might dig up. 😅 Great job on the interview, Claudia! You are so multitalented!
@InTheGardenWithClaudia3 күн бұрын
Aww Michelle! You are a sweetheart, thank you for your kind words. I agree on the digging thing, you never know what you will find but it's comforting knowing we ALL struggle in some sort with our garden and the soil at times. It's taken a few years to work our soil well but gosh was it like digging into rocks in the beginning. 😆

My weirdest… a pool. My side yard was filled in with compacted oyster shell and nothing gets through so we put raised beds and it turns out previous owners buried a cement pool. My raised beds do well.

Hi Claudia and Janey 👋 Claudia, you are fantastic at doing interviews 😊 I love this!! 😍 Janey is such a joy. I lol when you said she's your Malibu Barbie friend 😂 and when she said "She would be a weed, like a dandelion " 😁 I loved that.. 😊 About the Banana Trees... I have had them, Ornamental ones. They grow such a cool looking bunch of Bananas,which was so pretty, but, they are small and hard, because of course we had to pick and see what's up, (my hubby was such a good guinea pig 😂🤣😂) The huge leaves do get tattered and torn from wind though. Here in zone 9b Texas Gulf Coast, we are lucky (I think) to be able to have sub tropical plants! Except like last week the temp got down to 19° and we had a freeze and snow ❄ which is unreal here. 1 final thing I must say about me is, I take loosing a plant very personal.. 😕🥺 (part is financial, living on a fixed income) Also why we do perennials, hubby says; why waste money on something that is one and done. Anyways, Thank you for this wonderful video. I loved it! Always a friend, Jen 💜
@InTheGardenWithClaudia3 күн бұрын
Jen I LOVE how real you are, I totally take it personally when I lose a plat in the garden, ouuf especially if it's a flowering one so I totally get it. Janey is totally my barbie garden friend, and she is always down for an adventure which I love. We visited a garden here which we filmed a tour and they had so many banana trees, in fact their whole neighborhood did because they would give them away. They really are such beautiful trees. 🥰

I love Proven Winners too and run into the same situation in southern Indiana. I can’t find them either unfortunately.
