Currently submitted my RE-code 3 waiver request to my recruiter but asd is on my record. Never was placed in a special system in school and only saw a doc when I was 9. I got out in 2020 from active duty because of x ray misidentification but not because of mild asd. Would I still need to do a DOD doc test since i never had issues past my 14th birthday or would I be placed in that system?

I was diagnosed with autism at 2. I did 4 years in the Army. All I had to do was not tell them. Also honestly, there are plenty of old timers I knew that were clearly on the spectrum but not diagnosed because they enlisted before milder forms of autism became commonly known in the early 90s.

@TEAMSWARTZ Well I'm a slow at learnings things so that wouldn't be a good thing if I'm going through military training. I probably would need more accommodations. I'm 35 now so I'm not going to even try to join the service cause with my disability, there would be too many hoops and red tape to get past to join. Thanks for replying back to me and thank you for your service. Plus I couldn't pass the asvab cause I took the short version at a recruiting office and I didn't pass so I just gave up on it when I was 17.

Back in 2020 i served with mild asd. Never been put in special classes in High school and tried to re-enlist in 2022 because my chest was misdiagnosed and asd came up. Back then my old recruiter didn't submit my paperwork correctly and forced me to see the DOD doc and turned a mole hill into a mountain. Recently I got in touch with one of the few living guys I served with who had the same problem but his recruiter was able to get him his waivers. I met up with him and he told me the only thing I need for my RE-code 3 waiver are my x rays, asthma test, and letter from my high school stating I never took "special" classes. Submitted all of the documents and resources but only have a single question; I out grew my problems before I was 14 and never seen a specialist since 2009, would I still need to see the DOD doc again or do they skip that?

Hey, I was diagnosed with autism at the age of 2 or 3 but despite my IEP, I worked my way up from small classes to larger sizes starting in 9th grade eventually making it to an AP class with accommodations. I’m interested in joining one of the musical ensembles in the band, a non-combat role because I’ve always excelled academically as well as music which has been my passion my whole life. I have no intellectual disabilities and I live by myself without a need for a caregiver. I have also never been suspended, written up or expelled not once in high school and didn’t continue my IEP in college and only needed extra time on tests. My overall high school GPA was a 3.3 by the way. Others describe my character as hardworking, tenacious and resilient which allows me to overcome every hurdle I may face. Do you think I might have a chance?

@TEAMSWARTZ5 ай бұрын
You got this! My tips are in this video (WHAT’s THE ASVAB BASED ON? kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpC9n2awqLCXhZY) but to give you the actual tips are to choose “#3” if you don’t know the answer or cannot make an educated guess or process of elimination. Pay attention to the count down clock and last 15-30 seconds, for all remaining questions you won’t have time to answer, rapidly choose #3 for them because any question left unattempted will be marked wrong. At least choosing one gives you a 25% of getting it right. Then for paragraph comprehension, read the question, then the paragraph and you quickly realize the answer is in the first couple of sentences. Don’t waste time by reading the remaining paragraph and go straight to the multiple choices and choose the best one BUT be sure to read the answer all the way to the end because it’ll sound correct but the second half of eye answer is wrong. The video has other insights and information but that’s the meat and potatoes… Study from these three videos videos too: ASVAB STUDY TIPS: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hH_SdqiOet6Wf9k MATH KZbin QUIZ/TUTORIAL: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKO0f3uZiNJoq9U ⚠️Pause the video for each Math Question. If you get it wrong, the teacher in the video will direct you to a linked video in the description that will take the math question you got wrong and deep dive in a tutorial so that you can further understand that type of Math Problem. Study the F out of this video and linked video. Last applicant only studied from this video quiz and the linked videos and went from a 20 to scoring over a 50 on the ASVAB re-test.
