How did Impressionism come to be and what does it have to do with our smartphones? An unorthodox take on the movement that marked the beginning of modernism, with a little insight in the "how it is made" side of things.

Thank you for this excellent walk through the impressionist time! Modernity is imprinted in Impressionism ! Modern life starts with it and the roots for everything coming afterwards are to be found here. Very well researched and presented and well, I’m very much looking forward to your next video!! ❤️

Very interesting. Probably more aware of this than many of your other subjects. It must have been amazing to be in that group of artists. It’s not my favorite style, but so different for the time. Good job, once again.

I expected no less, but you’ve done it again. Wielding a large brush you’ve painted with bold strokes the essence of a complex shift in art history that included a large and varied cast of characters in a manner that is entertaining, accurate and easily digestible. Well done!

An interesting investigation, smooth and elegant, great to watch (as ever), thank you..I particularly liked the part where you talk about the type of art that used to be only accepted in the "classic" times, I however think the impressionists also step on other broad and larger than life shoulders :) - these of the Romantisists - like J.M. W. Turner, Tate Britain here we come..

Delightful! Who needs croquis, esquisse, etude, frottis, ebauche and fini when they can draw such vivid impressions of real life, in a simple and economical way. In some cases much more beautiful than real life. Thanks for the perspectives and bring on the new one!

I've just discovered your channel Boryana. I only came to viewing KZbin channels as a result of the isolation of Covid. Your content, presentation, and clarity are like a breath of fresh air. I"m encouraged to think that you will bring more inspiration and responses to the art world in the New Year 🌿 Seasons Greetings to you 🌿

This is because Boryana, at least in my opinion, is a very good narrator. And he is a good storyteller because he is a good connoisseur of art. Her interests in this field are wide and she also paints.

Excellent stuff as always! Where do you think the next revolution will take art to or have we forever abandoned restrictions?
@artunplugged

I think we have been done with restrictions ever since the impressionis opened the floodgates. Now it is about venturing in unchartered territories. NFT perhaps?

Impressionists are phenomenologists Something which Husserl and Heidegger explained something very simple yet too complicated or absolute farce when viewed with an empirical eye. These legends just did that with aesthetics unlike the aforementioned philosophers.. Certainly it's the painter who always lead the game. As Schopenhauer said "Let us treat the artwork as a king, let it do the commanding" Well impressionists did it by taking on the modernity like an Emperor Thanks a lot for the video

An interesting juxtaposition of the establishment world of the Academy that tried to control art in France and the Impressionists who adopted the term employed by their critics to break free. I'd highlight the role that the "father of Impressionism" Edouard Manet played. A full 10 years before the first Impressionist exhibition that you discussed, he had his 'Olympia' rejected by the Academy and instead exhibited at the Salon des Refusés. Together with 'Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe' it broke out of the traditional views of the academy, especially in terms of the representation of the female nude -- previously confined to 'respectable antiquity' not shown, as with Olympia, as a contemporary.

Thank Ian! Indeed Manet occupies a special place among the Impressionists inasmuch as his contribution was not so much on the formal side as it was in terms of the content and subject matter. A fascinating artist!

Bravo! Very interesting again... One thought re Subjectivity/Objectivity; The camera may be Objective but the photographer is Subjective!
@artunplugged
@artunplugged 3 жыл бұрын
Very true! In fact, the objectivity of the camera increases the importance of the subjectivity of the artist-photographer. It's a challenge.
