That "Broadstairs" guy is soooo stubborn. The second house is TEN minutes away from his beloved Broadstairs. I have to drive half and hour to 45 minutes to see my sister (she was in the hospital and at 2 am it was still 20 min. drive!). Phil is right, the kids won't care whether the house is in Broadstairs or not. For a country that is so small, some people can be so picky about driving a bit. Why is the "offers over" thing so disparate from what the house sells for? A house at "offers over 380k" selling for close to double that???? Why not list it as "offers over 500k"? Then if you're spending 600k, you think ok, that's reasonably in the ballpark. I don't even understand how realters in Scotland can calculate house prices when it's that different.
@nancyn347
@nancyn347 Жыл бұрын
They list it lower to generate interest. If it started at 500k, there would be people who wouldn't come to look at it. Pricing it lower will bring people in, and then after viewing, they may bid on it because they loved what they saw. During 2021, Canadian houses would go for as much as double what they were listed at. Since then, the values have reduced, but there was a definite almost "panic" for people to buy property, and with 0% interest at the time, people didn't seem to care what they paid, as long as they had a house.
@cathe8282
@cathe8282 Жыл бұрын
@@nancyn347 Thank you, that made sense. I have absolutely no experience with house buying so some things I just never think of and they don't make logical sense to me. I never thought to relate it to the "asking price because when Phil & Kirstie negotiate asking prices, they usually push lower. But yeah things can often go much higher. I live in Canada but have never gone through the house-buying process here. Just an armchair property reality show watcher! lol

@@nancyn347 You sound as though you are justifying the practice of low list prices. Perhaps you weren’t, but make no mistake, it is a duplicitous marketing tactic that serves the interest of the realtor(s). It does *not* serve the interest of potential buyers. Naive buyers with price ceilings end up wasting their-and everyone’s-time looking at houses that will sell well above what they can afford, losing out in the round of multiple ‘high’ offers that ultimately clinch the sale (at a selling price that anyone with a proper read on the market could have reasonably predicted). Of course the selling realtor can then boast ‘my property sold at $350k over asking (often even more) as though it were indicative of their brilliance. It’s a silly state of affairs that should be regulated out of existence.

It seems that so many people are not looking at the house, the size of the rooms but seem influenced by the furnishings of the existing tenants & to be fair some have been rather odd but they need to look through / beyond that ... as for 'curb appeal' ... you are inside! living your life! Kirstie has said that her place has little curb appeal but she looks out the windows to a very attractive house across the street ... and 'what we both like separately, independently' ... is that not the same?

I’m confused about the family with the kids. Near the end the dad said “new house new child” and it did appear that they had a toddler, but one of the girls was a toddler during the first episode the family was in. Did they have another child, and if so, why did I only see 3 in the episode. I clearly saw two different bedrooms both with bunk beds and that didn’t include Owen’s room.

That's correct. The children do not show the time lapse the program claims. At the begining they mentioned a "teeneger boy" that should be 18 or 19 years old 7 years later.

It is a lie total lie. Anetican realty-type shows real shows don't have sex and vulgar language, etc..., they also feature humor and fun, too, and ironically one or two sometimes feature British co hosts.
