I think the funniest thing I learned this time during bonding was that two new bunnies flopping on opposite sides is actually an insult to each other 🤣 they're essentially saying "Oh ya see how comfortable I am? I'm SOOO much happier than you!!". Bunnies truly are the sassiest animals.
@cakeeeetime6 ай бұрын
Thank you for telling us! It is always so amazing to me how we humans interpret animal behaviour! It often looks one way and means something completly diffrent! And then there's an individuals body language. So amazing! You never stop learning when you're interessted in animals!

Hi Victoria! I also want to note that rabbits in bonding that groom each other is actually called aggressive grooming which you have to be careful with they are mainly just trying to get around the bunny by grooming them so they can bite. But Sage seems very gentle so you shouldn’t worry too much. I had two bunnies named Benny and Fuji both fixed and recently Benny has passed away. Fuji did go through a 2 day depression before she started eating again:(. But I’ve have comforted her and now I’m starting to look for rescues. Im 13 and excited to see sage and Cleo together!❤️me, Fuji and Roxy love ya! (Roxy is my hamster)
@VictoriaRaechel6 ай бұрын
@@jackniesyty1821 rabbits use their mouths a lot for communication! It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s aggressive ☺️ A bunny may give a gentle nip because they want to be groomed or they simply want them to move out of the way, but these nips should never draw blood- that would indicate it’s more aggression based. I’m sorry to hear about your loss! ❤️

I find it so interesting that less space is better at the beginning rather than more. I feel like with a lot of other species, it's the opposite
@VictoriaRaechel6 ай бұрын
Some people do large spaces for rabbits but I just don’t think it’s appropriate for first time introducing, no rabbit enjoys being humped, so most will run away which would just cause continuous chasing in the large area. It would be harder for them to establish would is dominant then. But to each their own when it comes to the different methods 😊

So happy to see this bonding worked well!! I'm very anxious to bring my 2 bunnies together after a bad experience some weeks ago. One kept humping and circling the other, and they'd bite into each other's fur, pulling out pieces if I'd try to separate them. After half an hour, I decided to separate them again and take it slow. Now they live in 2 separate rooms with a fence in between, but even after week, they still try to attack each other through the bars.

I personally think that a too small bonding space can increase the stress level, cause they can´t hide, disengage or releaf stress by running. I made good bonding results (I did three bondings yet) by giving the bunnies a room or very large save area with water, hide outs etc. It should be an neutral area, where none of the bunnies had been before. I made sure that there were no dead ends, so no one could get cornered. So every hide out had at least to entries etc.. I agree, that you shouldn´t seperate the bunnies entirel when you started the bonding cause everytime you put them together they start from 0. Bonding can take a very long time. My longest experience was 2 months until they were a good couple. I don´t edvice to force them to interact with each other like smearing food on them... they should bond natural and in their own pace. Humans are just there to supervice.
@VictoriaRaechel5 ай бұрын
if that works for you and your bunnies that is great! But that is just not something that I believe works for my bunnies. Giving them a large space enough to run/hide etc would have caused a serious fight and wouldn't allow them to try and figure out who was dominant. All in all, I've bonded 3 pairs now as well and all were also good results, so while your method works for you mine works for me 😊

I don't want to take her to the vet because I want her to have a peaceful passing, not full of stress. what can I do to make her not be in pain? I really would appreciate it if you, or anyone with this experience could respond to this comment, thank you!

Hi Victoria please help me! My hamster was getting really confident around me and I really didn't want to scare her so I haven't tried to pick her up. I was transporting her to her playpen from her cage, while I was cleaning it. I put her in her hideout and gently moved her to her playpen and added lots of bedding to her cage, I went through her house while she was in it and she got very scared, so I tried to move her back to her cleaned cage and she squirmed out of her hideout and fell into the playpen. She looks fine but she is quivering and burrowed under her bedding. I'm so upset that I may have hurt her and it's all my fault. She only fell around a foot but she was very scared and fell on her head. I'm really afraid that she is hurt and it's all my fault! Do you think she will be ok and will still like me? Thank you so much xxxx
