Hi Mark, thanks for your openess in sharing your game and coaching moments on this channel. Your willingness to shine light onto your game and examine it, review it with a coach, develop more and more refined thought processes--these are the key practices to repeat over and over. Forget about everything else. Short term variance will deceive you, rake at your stakes will shaft you, KZbin comments can be ignorant, regs can be idiots, but this game is so beautiful and well-worth wrestling with.

I don't like the discussion of the last hand. It almost totally discounted diamond draws, which were only mentioned in passing but are villain's most likely draws. When villain calls the flop bet, he is MUCH more likely to have a diamond draw or a pp than bd hearts, especially when Mark holds the Ah. Mark only beats exactly A4dd (in terms of Ax), so I think it could be argued that he beats less than half of villain's possible hands (which include pp below QQ) after the overbet, when villain should fold most of his draws, except for Ax and pair plus draw. When you were discussing showing the result, I said "I bet he shows Axdd." GREAT play with the 44!

The issue with his use of "polarized" isn't that it's frequent, it's that it's completely wrong. Villain is not polar, he made a tiny c-bet and then checked back the turn, he has all sorts of stuff in his range, but unless he was holding a queen, none of it is strong by the river. Also since he bet the flop, it's unlikely he has total air like 97 of hearts. So a polarized range is nuts or air, villain has no nuts and no air. He has the opposite of a polarized range.

Yeah as Pete says I’m focusing on the board in isolation and not hand reading at all. Hope to improve this part of my game.

I think what Mark really mean was that himself is polarized when he bet the river. He either has flush or he bluffs

I have a personal question for you. Do you mix checks on flops? How often do u to balance your checking range?
@mackerhacker76
@mackerhacker76 Жыл бұрын
I tend not to mix very often. If my hand is a mix in theory (ie an optional bet) I will usually consider my specific opponent and decide whether check or bet is higher EV against them.

I have noticed at micro stakes level, that flop donk bet many times means bluff. They might bet like 1 bb. Usually reraise get them fold.

Love the goals discussion. Best of luck on the year, Mark! My goals for the year are Complete CPS Grade 3 (by end of January) Complete redo of CPS Grade E (by end of March) Play 150,000 hands online Play 300 hours live Progress to 200NL online Play a WSOP event Play a Wynn Winter WPT Event Study at least 16 hours per month and log it Purchase and learn the basics of PIO

@@mackerhacker76 Posted in the Ministry for Education channel on discord with a summary. I completed Grade 3, played more than 150K hands online, played more than 300 hours live, studied at least 16 hours a month and logged study activity, and purchased PIO along with starting a solve database. I only made it to Lecture 6 of Grade E. I turned progression to NL200 into a long-term goal. I postponed the WSOP and Wynn Winter WPT tournaments. Looking forward to improving in 2024.

how many tables is mark playing? Maybe I missed it but I recall him saying he was playing quite a few tables- he always has a ton of hands on PT, it seems like that might be a big problem. The more tables the less he can actually make good decisions rather than having to click instinctively. Love the content guys !

Hi Corey - I play a lot but I don’t play too many tables at once. Usually only 2-3 tables.

another great video 99 hand is pretty bad we have 2bd draws with the diamond and straight + our 2 nut outs, villain likely checks the turn 50% of the time so we can easily call 44 hand is interesting i'd never call the flop, but i do like it
@agnorax
@agnorax Жыл бұрын
that's a lot of assumptions. you need to weigh up how much estimated bluff equity you have when a diamond rolls off. lot of recs with that stack wont fold top pair even on a diamond completing turn/river. not saying its wrong but you seem to have come up with an arbitrary number.
@mrnegative48
@mrnegative48 Жыл бұрын
@@agnorax it's a weak donk bet it'll be a range of garbage, as the pfr you have an Ax and nut heavy range, this causes a high % of checks on the turn, whether its 60% or 20% its more than enough to give you equity on your backdoors. You don't need a diamond either, the straight cards are better but if you get a diamond straight card you are laughing. No one ever 100% bets the turn.
