This is great, can we print the the spool part ourselves if we order the refills. I am sold on the filament as you know and would rather adopt your system than copy stl files that may be on the various file sites.

You can indeed, I’ve now added the STL files for the printed centre to the MasterCore product page on 3DTomorrow. You have to order it like a normal product, but it’s free. If you chose to print yourself, you’ll have to pull the flanges off another spool when you finish up that roll, rather than sending it back. Although I will also add the flanges as an option to buy, since pulling them off a spool often leaves them tarnished from the glue.

Would it be possible to print the core with say the bio pro? And reuse the spools I already have? It looks like a great system.

Hey Karl, that's a good idea, don't see a reason why that wouldn't work since the centre parts are printed anyway. Will add the STL files to the product page on the 3DTomorrow website at some point this week!

is this designee available for use now? Can I download the printed part? Will this work with other cardboard spools that are more common now, polyterra etc?

It is indeed, also working on a screw version which will release shortly. Available for free download via the 3DTomorrow website, MasterCore product page. Not sure how you mean? If the filament already comes on a spool there is no need to use the MasterCore spool system. Its designed for refills, to save the use of a spool each time.

@@CallumColes Hi Cullum, I checked the 3dtomorrow/product/mastercore-uk-pla/ page. No link there, no link on the video here, and no reference to it on your thingaverse. Where can I download the 3D printed core? Am I missing something? Oh, I meant can I use the 3d printed core with other cardboard spool flanges??? I imagine the flanges are just separated from the carboard core? For instance Polyterra cardboard spools that I already have? They appear to be similarly sized and shaped.
