This has to be the most ironic dia-logos yet. When you mentioned having a fundamental disagreement, I was eagerly anticipating the revelation. But as the conversation unfolded, it became clear that there was such a profound mutual understanding and openness that what I heard felt like deep congruence in viewpoints. An absolute delight! I think everyone learned something. I’m in awe!

Beautiful, how the deep academic thinking of John meets the profound practice and experience, that resonate in the words of Nicholas Janni. It reminded me of Narcis and Goldmund getting good friends at the end of their completely opposite lives. The excitement that John shows for his guest here is contagious. Can't wait for more of this!

John, I get plenty of exposure to your work from your many admirers over at Grail Country, which has been helpful as I pursue a Dharmic/Mystic Christian practice. But, I am also in the business space responsible for leading a large local market for a national business. This talk is something I have been craving for a long time - how does my spiritual practice translate into how I manage and lead within my business. Bravo sir!

That question from you John about prayer and the honest questioning that followed, the being with the question it received deeply resonated with me. I deeply value having been able to witness this. I take so much aspiration from you two putting this conversation out in the public. A great thank you to both of you.

I really appreciate this episode as a social entrepreneur. I've always questioned how the wisdom regarding the allocation of finances is cultivated.. in a capitalist society where profits are simply maximized without regard for a balance between the social (and spiritual) and financial, transformational learning may be essential to leaders to attune themselves to the right path.. thank you

This is the work I do (on a smaller scale) and brings deep meaning to my life. Can’t wait for the next episode. THANK YOU. What happened between you is what is needed in the world as well. 🙏 I have so much more to say but need to process my excitement haha Laetitia

People are worked to death for less than a living wage and now the jobs are going away too. This is making us disconnected from all but the barest needs of survival. The average person can't do retreats and awakenings etc. we're trying not to be homeless. There's the real problem.

The material self is the anxious self, the depressed self, and the separated self. The material self is dual. The true Self is the same in All. It is upon realizing this that separation ends. It is upon realizing this that joy and wellbeing begin. The true Self is non-dual. Separation is the illusion that must be dissolved. Without a deep desire to end the illusion, there can be no awakening. This is why those who self-elect to undergo practices for the purpose of awakening are the only ones who do awaken. This is why the guru/seer/sage/shaman is essential. Without a true Self to reflect upon, it is impossible to fully awaken. Partial awakening in the cultural state; separate observers observing without the will or tools for communication. Ontologically disconnected, we speak past one another, material interacting like sand dunes swaying in the desert wind. We must reduce the noise in the system by developing a unifying ontology. This is the only project that can save us from the meaning crisis.

In response to "finding a new way to talk about things," please find reliable bilingual students of the Sanskrit language and vocabulary. Sanskrit contains an ontological richness that is almost void from the English and Ancient Greek languages that is geared precisely for this level of discussion. Perhaps it would be meaningful to say it contains a comprehensive ontology of the imaginal, which I think is essential for drawing upon when developing a unifying ontology within the English language.

we continue to find ever more creative ways to help corporations make more money - spirituality in the boardroom, fantastic. building high performance cultures and enhancing peak performance as your highest purpose, what a winner! Vervaeke co-opeted to breath meaning into capitalism.

This is an important caution that seems to framed in a way that may come across as dismissive and overly cynical.
@janchmiel73022 ай бұрын
wasn’t sure how to frame it. I’m not cynical. … I feel strongly about this but it would take a book to explain. If you think capitalism is the root of our ‘problems’ then this the work of an enabler, rather than a solution.
@projectmalus2 ай бұрын
@@janchmiel7302 perhaps the framing moved from individual to group, and the actions of the individual are still complex inside, while the result or person might feel simple; conversely, inside the group the actions tend to become simplified by obeying efficiency so then simple plus simple equals fascism. Something to avoid, for sure.
@janchmiel73022 ай бұрын
perhaps .. it comes down to personal intuition and for me all the alarm bells are going off. having this guy advise a boardroom will not bring the meaning to individuals that are implied in the work of Vervaeke. it will make them better at maximising shareholder value with a relieved and chilled conscience..
@projectmalus2 ай бұрын
@@janchmiel7302 I'm trying to understand this myself. I think the problem at both ends is separation from Nature, but in different ways. The right way seems to be where a complexity is maintained so that it can be simplified, and then re-complexified, and this is the thru line that returns to the complexity as care, for both individual and group within Nature. Take an individual who is objectified thru alcohol abuse, they become dependent on the system and are very simple themselves. Their complexity within has been compromised from without, the booze. Their actions become simplified to let's get more and drink it. The powerful group only simplifies by changing what's there as external, person or landscape, it's the easiest thing to do. There's always a scapegoat, and positioning in hierarchy which takes the place of meaning. Otherwise, this is expensive to do a corporate level fix which imposes a loss of freedoms by the corporation passing the cost to the consumer so the cost of living goes up, more positioning in hierarchy necessary which is a box for people to fit themselves to. Worse, it doesn't get at the initial problem which answers why civilizations fall.

Patriarchy is an unskilled approach to matriarchy. It leads to both a desecration of the 'true' feminine and 'true' masculine. These categories only become divine (the good) through synergy.

Why bury yourself. Sit. What is asking me to move? Requires discipline of a non-combative nature. It is not easy to learn when you were trained to kill people with an unnatural posture for five years in the military but the brain is elastic. Took me five years. Now? Will never be a monk as I have debt (one must have no debt to society) plus I like steak.
