Always nice to see some appreciation for Scorn! It's a mistery to me how such a groundbreaking and influential project (including all the later evolution of Mick Harris solo work) still remains kinda obscure to this day. I mean, not that many people know about it, and Mick Harris is still to this day referred to first and foremost as the "ex-drummer from Napalm Death" in virtually all publications.

I was really interested by this video. The Scorn/Lull samples were great. I finally bought a physical copy of the Mick Harris & Martyn Bates release Murder Ballads (3CD, 1998). More ambient, but also more song based than most of your samples. Thanks, Chris

Indeed. Over the years, I've tried to get into those, but I guess I'm just not a fan of his voice. I'm glad this exists, though.

Intriguing thanks for sharing! Great to hear samples. Elements of the music have the soundscape of an interdimensional being trying to break into this reality. Cheers as always!

That's a take I welcome. There is indeed an outworldly quality to Scorn's music, oblique and isolationist.

Wow, this stuff really does sound fantastic and right up my street, particularly as I've been listening to a lot of stuff in the dub genre recently. Will now be checking out some of the releases Scorn have to offer! You also reminded me that I should check out that Orb live album, not heard it before.

I bought the Dog Star Man 12" by Meat Beat Manifesto right before records were taken off the shelves. My first couple of albums that I purchased as a kid were on LP and then I switched to cassette because I could listen to them on my walkman while riding my skateboard or bike, but for some reason I picked up that MBM 12".
@StuntrockConfusion2 жыл бұрын
I don't really know how this relates to the video, appart from the MBM remix, but I didn't know that Dog Man Star was censored ^^I recorded my LPs on cassette to the same you did, hahah.

@spectralisation Жыл бұрын
Yeah, by his own words Mick was kinda done with Napalm and wanted a new challenge. Then came the rather random and spontaneous Painkiller collab with Zorn and Laswell, which opened up Mick creatively and was probably essential dose of inspiration to start Scorn.
