He could have gone to the 49ers in 2005. But decided to play for free at college another year. Alex smith took his spot and Smith is still in the league. Maybe with a better team, Leinhart world have been better developed. Anyone who stays in college, is a fool giving away 10s if not hundreds of millions of dollars.

A successful football player needs to either be able to adapt to the coaches scheme or the coach has to adapt to the player (obviously) a big issue is players and coaches let their ego get in the way and don’t adapt to each other

I vaguely recall Leinart's commitment to the game and his team being questioned as a result of his penchant for flying home from Arizona to Los Angeles often, doing things like getting his photo taken in hot tubs with lovely ladies. Hard to get your teammates on your side when you have a background and preference for the Hollywood glam life.
