I hardly write comments came across your video as I was considering moving to New Zealand, biggest highlight of your video which I enjoyed is how much DIY you take on, much respect I love that and you save some few bucks while you at it. Bubbly personality bonus, great individual.

Thanks for watching and also your kind comments on my video and DIY skills 😉❤️ Much appreciated! 😁 In all honesty, I’ve always been a handy person and just learnt to become more self-sufficient as the years went by in NZ. Plus- it’s way more affordable doing things yourself because, unfortunately the labour is tremendously expensive 😜 Where are you planning to move to in New Zealand?

Been in NZ for 23 years - seriously thinking about moving back to Western Cape. Just spent 5 weeks in the Cape and it was so amazing to be with my people. South African s are so resilient and respectful to each other the vibe was outstanding. I don’t say this lightly but CT and the Western Cape is in good shape even better than the late 90s. Obviously you need to be alert but I didn’t feel threatened or anxious at all.

As Aussies we lived in South Africa and Mozambique for a bit over 3 years your drive brought back plenty of memories. Sad to see the those intersections with the robots not working it reminded me of when we lived in Maputo and the absolute chaos of trying to get through a 4 way intersections when the power was off just had to close your eyes and go.. South Africa was only just beginning to experience power shedding when we left in 2019 after covid arrived. In Pretoria we visited the Voortrekker Monument it is an amazing building I must have driven around that mountain 4 times before I could actually find the road to get up to it ;) We absolutely loved our time in South Africa but it doesnt mtter how much you enjoy being somewhere there is always that pull that makes you want to return to your home.We tow a 20ft caravan with a Jeep around Australia nowadays and we love road tripping , I dont remember seeing too many RVs on the road over there not caravans anyhow. Happy travels and stay safe....

Thank you for watching my video and also sharing your journey with me. I really appreciate that. I hear you - home is home. I think you understand that especially with your current adventures. Love it! 🤗❤️

@@SeeSalGo thankyou for you well wishes we really enjoyed our time in that part of the world and I can the see the attraction that it would have for both South Africans and tourists. It some ways it is a lot like Australia in others it is completely different one thing I did like was that people still have the freedom to think for themselves. Here in Australia I genuinely believe we have rooms full of publicly funded bureaucrats who suit around coming up with new regulations to impose on people. Enjoy your time back in the rainbow nation.

Yes, you're right about it being like Aus in some ways and in others not but you do have a point about freedom of thought. I felt that a lot in NZ and it really got me down but yet, it works for them. Each to their own I guess.

How is it like to be back home in South Africa? I have friends who moved to Aotearoa in 2002 when I was back in high school. So If you compare both countries what would you say are the stand out features? I know a lot of ex-pats badmouth SA, sometimes rightfully so. But considering our "colourful history" (Colonialism, Apartheid, Post 1994 Progress and Challenges) how would you compare both countries? Taking into consideration that Aotearoa is also a post colonial settler state are the politics between Moari and everyone else similar to home?

Hehe - I noticed how your accent switched back in PE. You had a slight kiwi twang in NZ...

I know right!? 🤣 It’s so weird. I guess I was there for so long that my accent just morphed slightly. Now, I’ve got a lekker SAFA accent again ☀️👍🏻 Thanks for watching!

If you don't know the podcast Morning Shot, check it out every morning at 07.00, chosing topics of the day in politics or current affairs in South Africa. Ramon has been asking for any SA citizens returning after being expats, in order to interview you and your family's experience and why return to SA now!?
