Hi Dale - I came back home to SA 6 years ago having spent 28 years in Switzerland. Switzerland is a beautiful country, but it was never "home" for me....... there's something about Africa that just gets under your skin and stays there - for Life 🌺🥰 Enjoy our beautiful, wonderful, quirky country - for all her problems (and face it, every country has their problems) SA is quite simply: uniquely special 🥰🇿🇦🌺

You win some and you lose some when you live in SA. Yes the riots showed the worst of South Africa, but they also showed the best. The speed with which communities came together to defend property (and in many places seemingly impossible combinations of white farmers and taxi drivers side by side), and then to find and distribute food, and then to rebuild the supply chain was quite remarkable. I was in the UK when Lee RIgby was stabbed to death on a busy high street, and what struck me was that so many people stood and watched or filmed it on their phones, but not one person actually did anything (okay, eventually an old granny tried to intervene). And the London riots in 2011 lasted 6 days, wile the SA riots only really lasted 2 days - why, because the SA communities stood up for themselves.

Same here. 1975 brought out with parents by Consol Glass. I've got my sons out . There's no future here and the idea that ANC will be replaced without a civil war is a fantasy. If you need to stay in Africa try to get into Botswana
@nellasquare20923 жыл бұрын
@@LucyLane07 I would have agreed with you on the civil war statement a few years back but the youth of SA is our hope as they totally see things differently and the ANC is losing their hold on these young ones to which one might say they’ve had to prove themselves to the youth but failed them dismally. This is where other political parties need to strengthen their value proposition to the youth of SA to actually see a different vote and a changed nation. The youth of SA can change this country they need the right guidance as already they have no loyalties to the ANC and it’s government and that is promising.

My wife and I moved to the UK a couple of years ago and I must say the UK is safe but sometimes the economics just don't make sense. We have questioned if we made the right decision but we are planning to stay for at least 5 years and then review everything. For me the saddest thing is seeing some of my fellow South Africans moving their all savings here and use the same savings to try n get by here. We have no doubt that we will end up somewhere in the southern hemisphere. We also are planning to buy a holiday apartment in SA somewhere along the KZN coastline.
@DaleReubin3 жыл бұрын
Good luck Freedom, I wish you all the best in the UK for now. It's hard to know unless you give it some time. It is extremely expensive for South Africans to live purely off savings in the UK, unless you have major cash. The interest rate there is so low that it's hardly worth putting it in the bank, so your savings grow very slowly. At one stage I was getting 0.01% interest on a cash ISA I had.

I am a South African and all I can say is that we love those who love us. We welcome people who comes to our country to build. Keep in mind that negative comments could be from those who are not even South Africans. God is reforming SA, join us in prayers. I travelled the world and I tell you that there is no better place like SA other than political discourse that attributes to poverty and crime. I trust that God is in control and all will settle down in due time. Welcome to South Africa Broer!

We moved from the Garden Route to Joburg, and I was very nervous initially after hearing about the crime etc. But I'm loving it - the people are friendly, there's less racism than in the boere dorpe and Cape Town, and it was amazing how communities came together in the recent riots. We are hoping to retire to the KZN South Coast in the years to come, and sad that our son is contemplating emigrating to New Zealand, where the biggest crime is jaywalking apparently. On ground level action SA is not helping the struggling independent ward counselors but instead wants to run over residents of the community who want to make a difference within their own communities, in short he is doing on ground level what every other political party is doing. The moment a political party comes and endorses the local community members who run independently then we know we are on the road to success. But yes, actionSA is certainly the better evil in my opinion although as a mlungu i still think COPE and FF+ are the best we have, but sadly racism stops our masses from voting objectively. This is africa and us who were born here belong here and we will fix and build this continent once we realize who our real enemy is.

Hi Dale if you have got a farm , invest on saffron, In South Africa, saffron (sometimes referred to as “red gold”) retails for as much as R250/g (or R250 000/kg). The hefty price tag is attributed to the labour-intensive harvesting methods followed - from picking the flowers to removing the threads - which is all done by hand

We will be happy to have you. Farmers are exactly what SA needs more than anything else. Happy relocation journey and best wishes for your new home and career in my homeland 🎈 My wish for my country 🇿🇦 is that government must step up and help all farmers financially, and bring back all the farmers that were chased out of the country, and protect them by all means. They are very important in everyone's lives and best economic to the country. Farmers should not be suffering things like water, electricity and mobile usages in the farm because this is for the country. More food factories can be reopened and operated again and people can be hired again. This important gesture needs government to prioritize and step up and help /protect farmers from miserable criminals by all means, because this is what all people need, FOOD and JOBS. Please talk to government and God bless you and protect your family. Wishing you good luck and results. 🌾🌈😇🙏

Very brave to make a big move but even more tenacious to take up farming on a small holding. A colleague of mine moved to a sheep farm and it very nearly broke him until he got control of it. Unless you cater for niche markets, it's hard to make a dime. Our organic produce supplier came from Germany about a decade back and they are eventually thriving with their direct farmers market App, so there is light and prosperity at the end of the journey.

I am not South African. I like geopolitics(as a hobby), and you life experience perfectly matches what I came to visualize through reading my own analysis. Unfortunately, I have not been able to hold a conversation long enough with a South African. Some seem to be blinded with prejudges and others do not even know about the economic crisis currently happening. They have many problems and challenges to overcome but after 27 years of reign, but is it obvious than a government ruled by the ANC has little to no chance to help the country to do so. Instead, it is one, - not to say the main -, factor of South Africa economical and social downfall.

Hi Dale, fellow South African (of Indian descent) here. I am currently working in the Middle East, having been unable to find permanent employment in SA. I was earning R3500 as a passionate, qualified teacher being paid by the SGB. So I was really 'forced' overseas. My heart yearns for home however, having taught there for 6 years. There is no place like SA and our people. Like you, I agree that our multicultural country has the potential to be great, if all people just start seeing/voting beyond colour, for a better life. We are actually a mini-USA but with better weather 🙌. God help South Africa to realise its potential without constantly poking the wounds of the past. We have a terrible past, yes. But healing & growth can never occur if we keep looking backwards. My people came to SA as slaves but we did not let that define us. It took many generations but we uplifted ourselves. We South Africans are a work in progress. It cannot happen overnight but with education, upskilling of people and a determined work-ethic, we can turn this country around.

Crime on farms and small holdings is not something that should be flippantly dismissed by stating that you have neighbors who feel safe to have around. Three of my neighbors who live around my residence were brutally attacked before anyone could raise the alarm. And there are countless instances like mine here in South Africa. The golden rule here is have as much security as you can afford, keep vigilant, and go about living as normal. It can be very safe living in South Africa so long as you never take on the attitude, "It will never happen to me." My cousin's husband was murdered in front of her 5yr old daughter when he tried to resist a home invasion. However, even though this maybe the case, still, a great many of us are committed to make this country rise from its painful past and walk towards the kind of future that benefits anyone who chooses to call Africa home. Walk safely......

What u said about the Government is true. So U must be able to stand on our own. Own water, electricity, security and what els. What is the purpose of Government then? Beyond that ZA is getting less rich day-by-day. By Grandfather (1896-1990) also said that one Big Party in Government is never a good thing... It all boils down 2 economics. Is it going to work economically? R ZA on the way of the Weimar Republic? If I stayed in England (1998-2000AD)??? I would NOT have known of the farms....
