Great video! Love it, every single second... every time I felt Joe's voice breaking because of frustration I could see myself! every time he was so pumped, I smiled.... Joe and Brodie you have done a great work with this video and most importantly with Joe's rehab process... Happy for you... keep the good work going. Well done! :)

This journey is incredible. For context for all the viewers, this race is one of the most competitive 100Ks in North America-and the field was incredibly stacked this year. Joe's journey of running through intense pain to finishing in the top 50 of this race (with over 800 runners) is a major accomplishment, especially since multiple runners this year broke the previous course record. Loved seeing the progress and the hiccups we experience along the way-could totally relate to the entire process. Joe, thanks for being so vulnerable and sharing your journey. Running is an intimate self-process, and it takes a lot of courage to share what you did. Thank you! 🙏 Brodie, amazing job. Once again proving you're the running injury expert. Can't wait to see the future case study videos.

Yay!! I am so happy to hear that. I worry the video length is a bit too long but glad you found it valuable. 👏

2:29 - glad I found this video. I had the same exact issue, more specifically with my Gluteus Medius, some time in the past. Unfortunately I cannot narrow down exactly which was the solution, but I remember that dry needling actually helped me relieve the pain (at least in the short term) while also adding gym work which I wasn't doing at all plus trigger point ball after every run I was getting the butt pain. I wish I could've documented my progress as well, but it looks like it never came back. Maybe it's not about pinpointing only one rehab/treatment method and having a mix/routine where you can get a compound effect of doing multiple things for the injury.

I combination of treatments can be helpful. Initially manual therapy can be effective, but over time you want to focus more on strength and conditioning for rehab. I suppose you know this already since watching the rehab series 😅

@@RunSmarterwithBrodieSharpe yes and I completely agree. There's no way around strength and conditioning which usually doesn't motivate runners much to go to the gym 😅 for me at least the anaerobic exercise complements the running nicely doing it 2-3 times per week

16:31 - How about training by HRV? Anecdotally, I found it to be correlated even with physical injuries not just stress.

This is a great video. I love this new style, so helpful. I notice that you programmed strength workouts almost every day. I thought evidence was for 2-3 strength sessions per week to allow recovery in between. Is there a reason you did them more often? Would this be the same for someone who only runs 3 times per week? Why did you chose this approach rather than doing all 4 exercises in one session but less often?

Thanks for watching Anna, good pick up! Rehab exercises usually start ‘light and often’ and then eventually evolve to ‘heavy and less often’. For example: Joe only did banded work and body weight stuff initially. But when he did his gym work (the heavy stuff) that was only 2-3x per week.
