After waging a war on slime that cost New York City millions, the Ghostbusters find themselves out of business until an ancient tyrant, preparing a return to the Earthly domain through his portrait at the Manhattan Museum of Modern Art, sets his sights on Dana Barrett's baby as the new home for his wicked soul! With the help of the Museum's possessed curator, he plans to turn New York into a really scary place to live! Now only the Ghostbusters can save New York City, by turning paranormal pest control into an art form!

It was more that people didn't like that the movie was targeted more towards children than it was to fans of the first movie. All because of the real ghostbusters cartoon. The jokes were toned down from the adult humor the first movie had. But younaren't wrong, he was a damn good villain

Vigo is a frightening villain. I always enjoyed and was more afraid of Him than Gozer. 7:33 That scene of him first appearing in physical form is so great! The music, the ghosting effect as he phases back into reality, the slow walk and turn, Willhems facial expressions, the demonic voice, all perfect. When he’s put back into the painting and reveals something of his true form is done really well too! Vigo deserves more respect

And the way it's shot makes it look cavernous down there, so much darkness to hide in. Fantastic stuff, I really hope they get this right with the new one, yes it's a comedy but it's also got to be serious and frightening in places, it just has to be. I miss this era of Ghostbusters when the villains came about organically. Whether atop a NY highrise or through a painting in a museum, the big bads often used the mundane, ordinary aspects of human life as a gateway to their extraordinary means. I feel like that "normal" dynamic has been replaced with a lot of unnecessary over-the-top antics with all the recent entries in the franchise

They should have Vigo return if they make another Ghostbusters movie after after life. Maybe have him team up with a new ghost boss like a haunted doll,

I think Dana has some sort of curse on her. First movie becomes a dog, second her baby is the chosen one for a daemon to live again... I always noticed how when vego was holding the baby just before he was weakening it was like the baby was calling for the positive energy to weaken him. Wonder if that was coincidence or they taught the baby to wave his arms like that.

In a deleted scene, Egon theorized that Dana was predisposed to being affected by the paranormal. Plus, Sigourney Weaver declined to do the video game, and Dana was replaced with a new character, who turned out to be a distant relative of Ivo Shandor; there's speculation that Dana was affected by paranormal activity because of that connection to Shandor.

You can't teach a baby Oscar's age to do anything, really. They'll react happily to things they like, and negatively to things they don't. And babies like to wave their arms when they're being held. You try to teach them new things, and they're learning... (it's frankly amazing how fast they learn) but they're too young to really be taught to do anything on cue. (Speaking as a father of a kid who is currently just a bit younger than Oscar.)

It was because there wasnt as much screen time or as much as a back story as Gozer in Ghostbusters. He could have been a more intimidating and terrifying villain if he had more story and screen time like was originally planned for Ghostbusters 2.

Any idea what Vigo actually did to Janosz Poha? He wasn't possessed by Vigo, as Vigo was still in the painting. He had certain supernatural abilities, but wasn't a ghost .. except for that one time he was. I don't think it was mind control. It was more like personality control. If Vigo was being elevated from a Class 4 to a Class 7 by negatively-charged Psychomagnotheric Slime, it's conceivable that Vigo flooded Janosz with the same negative emotions that was the source of his power. Along with some of his supernatural abilities, Vigo made him more selfish, lustful, and manipulative. Maybe it was a partial possession.

I don't think it was any kind of "control" per se; more like... infatuation. Like a cult leader, his power infects his subjects (in Vigo's case literally) and they become utterly devoted to the leader's beliefs, methods, and ideas without question or hesitation.
