I also watch Kathryn (K3n) for some years (before she had the stitching challenges) and I saw her stitching a meditation scroll and I thought of making one, but I never did until now that I finally decided to start mine (I guess I sometimes struggle to stitch something that doesn’t have a “function”, so to speak) and I’m loving it. I’m using a piece of driftwood I found on the beach. I love the idea of using scraps of paper. Yours look gorgeous and I love the grungy look 😊💙💚🩶🩷💛❤️🤎🧡💜🖤♥️

Thank you Kelly, I love all your videos. Always inspired, but this one has inspired me extra. I have some empty pianola scrolls which I usually wrap vintage lace on for display. But I’m thinking one of the paper scrolls would look amazing too. I’ll be using tea bags (2 wide) as the base-I’m excited Thanks for sharing and inspiring 😊

Hello there, Evangeline. Tea bags make a cool base and those piano rolls sound inspired. Thank you for the kind words!

Fabulous. How about sewing them on the base strip?
@BookandPaperArts7 күн бұрын
Absolutely, Enrica. I am also going to try sewing them to a cloth strip and see where that goes. Thanks for comparing notes!

Great video and ideas. I like the homage to historical use of scrolls. Is all PVA glue archival, or does it depend on the brand?
@BookandPaperArts6 күн бұрын
Hi David. All PVA glue is NOT archival but it can be. The best thing is to search for that online. It may be pricier but it will last for ages. I am using matte gel medium. I am not sure if it is strictly archival but it is a high quality and should last forever-ish. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much, Kelly! This is just what I needed to get out of a slump. I made two from tea bags and one from brown packing paper. The brown paper seems a little stiff, so I'm not sure if I will be able to put it on a scroll. But I haven't yet gone back to add some marking with moisture. Do you think that will make a difference? If not I'll just use it in journals and to make some clusters.
@BookandPaperArts8 күн бұрын
Hi Sue. I can see how the brown paper will be somewhat stiff and adding the liquid elements will only soften it for a time. You could try rolling it carefully while it is damp or just wait and make it all kind of awkward and stiff and crinkly and that's a look, too. Keep me posted!

Thanks so much for your response. I've decided to make this into an accordian book and decorate from there. @BookandPaperArts

Kelly my friend, these scrolls are so, so amazing! I mean, what an awesome way to use up trash, scraps, bits n bobs of fabrics in one easy roll! And I just LOVED that old looking "clothes peg", that was beautiful! I have both Mod Podge as well as the yellow UHU glue sticks. Will the glue sticks hold these pieces on as securely as the MP will? And will it hold when I spray lite water over some of these pieces for drizzle? Obviously UHU is less mess, so I'm leaning that way. And suggestions from you?? Thanks in advance.
@BookandPaperArts4 күн бұрын
Howdy, Lynn. Well, I wouldn't hesitate to try a UHU stick. That is some good stuff and I use it a lot. I would still favour gel medium but you know, use what you got. Mod Podge will work. I think if the glue is good and dry it should hold when spritzed. See what you think and keep me posted. Kelly

Love this ideam did you seal the paper strip with anything to protect it?
@BookandPaperArts10 күн бұрын
Hi. I did not. You could add a coat of matte gel medium but it will probably make the paper stiffer and bulk up. You could add spray fixative but the thing is once you get the water soluble activated with water and then dried, and the pastels are worked in thoroughly, they are pretty much "fixed" already. Hope this helps!
