I’ve watched about 10 hours on acrylic mediums (media?) I am now so confused, BUT! You’re the FIRST one who put black behind it, everyone else was spreading pastes and modeling clay white on white…. Isn’t it basic, to think that nobody can actually see anything? So thank you for having creativity AND common sense!

Although I try to not use weak plastic bags when I am shopping sometimes I get them when I have home deliveries despite asking for them not to use them. I find the bags useful in my craft room and will be using them as the non stick surface when I practice this technique. Occasionally using other techniques the ink from the bags may transfer but I think that only adds to the finished piece unless I am wanting a monochrome end result. Years ago I used to machine knit very loosely to create a wide space mesh, soak that in dilute pva, place it between tissue layers, sometimes multiple layers if I needed a strong piece. It came in very handy when my then 8 year old was playing a Roman soldier in his school play as it made excellent armour. It resulted in my doing more for all the soldiers. I made the others during a workshop in the junior school with the children measuring each other, colouring the finished pieces, adding decorations for rivets and such. For the following years play the teacher asked if I could do the same technique to help make a crocodile costume for their Peter Pan play. Happy memories, I am pleased to be reminded of those times.

This is absolutely fabulous. Several months ago I experimented trying to replicate agura lace without a great deal of success but love your methods. I love working with that packaging paper mesh and don’t find it too regular. I spray it over something else so it acts as a stencil at the same time. I’ve never thought of wetting it first though. I use it a lot in my art. I’ve also made circles with fibres on tissue paper and when you glue it down the tissue becomes invisible. I’ve always used acrylic based media and never had any problems with painting it afterwards. Another thing I do is punch holes in those accordion folded medication leaflets, then unfold them and spray over something else so they act as a stencil as before. The printing on them adds interest. They tear beautifully along the perforations made with the crop-a-file. Fun fun fun!!

I like the technique. It reminds me of making joomchi paper. Like you, I like the more organic shapes and textures rather than being able to identify wat something was before. Thanks for sharing your process.

These were joomchi inspired, I think I tred to find a simpler, easier method to achieve what is very labour intensive in joomchi X. Joomchi still has its own attributes that cnnot be replicated. Thank you for watching and so glad you enjoyed it. All the best, Louise.

@@LouiseJannetta I like the technique for the same reason - similar but simpler. 🙂

Wow Louise - you just reminded me that I actually have a couple of sheets of the purchased Lacey papers somewhere. I agree with you that the more organic ones, self-made, are preferable. I am dying to know whether you have tried using these in a 'chine colle' context ?
