A humble John Maher who in fact is one of the greatest drummers of this generation. Check out Moving away from the Pulsebeat by the Buzzcocks to hear him in this prime (and was only 18 years old when he recorded it)

Fantastic short clip John of your skills from the band to mechanics to photography. To me as a youthful 13 year old lad back in 1977 you will always be a superb member of a band I really used to enjoy and had the pleasure of seeing you play live in 78 I think in the potteries at Victoria Hall. Great times great memories and music I still very much enjoy to this day. Thanks John.

I miss that whole era of music where you felt as a kid that something exciting was happening - John Maher always seems like the kind of person who's just good at everything they do - and does it without any sort of pretension.

Saw them in NY in '79. Always loved John Maher's machine gun drumming, such a hallmark of the Buzzcocks' sound. And he's got a fantastic eye.

Saw you play in The Buzzcocks many times. Often thought you and Clem shared a similar style and now I know why! Lovely to hear the back story of how you ended up in Harris. It looks beautiful.

The guitarist Andy Summers is also a very accomplished Photographer. He said the beauty of Photography with also being a musician is that it offers autonomy away from the vagaries of dealing and working with others. So true.

The performance of a self-taught musician is unique and more special to witness. Spiral Scratch EP will always be one of the most important records to me-still on the hunt for an original pressing. I'd refer to John Maher as a legend, but somehow that seems like an understatement. What a wonderfully interesting life! I do hope it's been a nice ride for him.
