Great nugget wow. If you don't look you'll never will find it. I grew up in a city and never got a chance to look for anything like that. I do find things from time to time like today. I found a silver dime 1962. Your doing the real deal. Plus you get to spend time with your children and teach them too. To me thats the most important part. Passing off your knowledge to your kids. I had a dead beet father. I don't think/ I know he never gave or bought me anything. I did spend a little time with him before he died.I don't think he wanted to die alone. It's very important to spend as much time as you can with your children. You'll never regret any of it. And when you children get older they'll have wonderful story's to tell and teach there children. Thanks for sharing.

How malleable is raw silver? What would happen if you hit that with a hammer? My nephew lives in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan. He finds copper in matrix. He just hits it with a hammer to remove the other rock and the copper just bends. Probably not the best way to do it, but it works for him.

Funny you should ask. I bumped into a fellow who was catching minnows to go walleye fishing. When he was a kid, he would ride his bike to one of the mines and bust rock with a hammer to extract the silver. He was telling me this because he tossed anything he didn't keep into the lake. He sold the silver plate to a refinery, making more money per hour (cash) than his Dad. I was going to try this process on another rock that I collected but it breaks my heart to whack it in case there is silver all through it. I should probably give it a slice down one side before deciding to break it.

Hi meminer big fan of your stuff here! Really enjoy the fact you just appreciate, as I do, the beauty in the natural aesthetic of the pieces . I am not sure what it is worth. Melt value, maybe $200. It is now sitting on a display shelf. As for time, if you are impatient, then use diluted muriatic. I actually prefer to use weaker acid to slow the process down in case I want to stop it without removing all of the calcite.
