SO awesome to see Dave Kushner getting some love and respect. He was obviously the most underrated part of VR but that group just cranked great guitar songs and his rhythms really allow Slash to shine. This was a fun interview, Marty. I'm really just a singer (pretty solid higher range though)so I'm into other power vocalists like Myles, Brent, Lajon and the late Chris Cornell, but one of my absolute favorites is Ian Thornley, who also jammed with VR, briefly. A cover and original band (of other old-knees area rock guys like me) had me try out (successfully) with Slither first, and then Shinedown's Monsters, before hitting Show Me How to Live and Muse's Hysteria. Velvet Revolver is fun to sing. Weiland really stayed in the pocket. He could write extremely catchy melodies wrapped in soulful and sexy lyrics. By the way, props to Dave for being a level-headed pro. The business of making a band work or get on the road is hard enough as it is. Let alone dealing with labels or chemical issues. Life is short enough. Play some music and get home safe.

There's a nice documentary showing the velvet revolver origins and singer tryouts. Scott was not showing up when he was supposed to. Lol
